Hey all, I'm wondering when the next wave of new LCD monitors will be released. I heard one person mention August and wanted to confirm if that was the case.

Thanks!

That is what I am waiting for as well. I hope the new wave 19 and widescreens are HDCP compliant.

Define "new wave"? I'm not sure that LCDs work in such distinct generations like video cards do.

Upcoming technologies include LED backlights (affordable?) and new backlight phosphors to increase color gamut. Black frame insertion will help eliminate the ghosting effect by sliding in black frames between motion scenes. It's good for gamers but I came to LCDs to get away from flicker so I'm not thrilled about it. I don't think you'll see HDCP-compliant 19" monitors for a year or so but manufacturers will be putting out 20"+ HDCP-compliant LCDs like hotcakes.

Yea, LCD's don't come in waves like Video Cards do.

If you want one now, just get one now. The next leap forward in LCD tech. is still probably a few years away from mainstream. And just forget HDCP on a 19in.

If you want a cheap WS monitor, look at the Viewsonic VX2025wm
