here is my rig.. (main purpose is a gaming rig... I have several workstations that do my applicaiton support)

Opteron 148 Venus (2.2)
1 gig of Mushkin Pc3200... (timing unsure)
EvGA 7800 GT (PCi-E) - 256MB
Epox EP9NPA-SLi capable
WD 36Gig Raptor (main)
WD 300gig SATA (secondary)
onboard audio (I use 2 channel headsets on this rig...no reason to go fancy imo)
Dell 19 inch LCD, ultra bright...seems to be good for me.

Im assuming next up would be a CPU upgrade? If so, I don't think dual core is worth it, as I don't see any true benefit yet, and as for a vid card - I'd like to wait for DX10...but go ahead shoot me your ideas.

Depending on what you do, Id say either another GB of RAM or waiting.

If you run lotsa memory intensive programs and find yourself paging to disk alot, then throw in another GB of RAM.

Otherwise, its not really worth it to upgrade anything else in there. Just settle in for the quad-core/Vista/DX10 wait.

OCing is free, so why not. If the rig does what you need it to do, why upgrade? If it doesn't, it would likely be obvious what you need to improve.

i don't think OCing your single core proc will do anything, probably upgrade to a dual core cpu like 4600 or to 2gb of ram, and x-fi's are pretty cheap nowadays...

Throw in 2x1 GB sticks of RAM, and set your HTT to 237, and you'll be good to go for awhile, if you're only gaming.
