Almost all of us pay a buck for a 12oz bottle of water, put a fancy label and it costs even more.

Translate this price to a gallon and it comes to over $10/gallon - for water!!!

The world's most abundant natural resource VS A non-renewable, ultra-refined, difficult to distribute product

Americans are simply amazing; and I am pround to be an American!

Okay, this is a totally worthless comment but, you could get 17 cases of Arrowhead Bottled water at OD a couple weeks ago for just over 30 bucks

$31 / (17 cases x 12 cans/case x 12oz/can x 1 gal/128 oz) = $1.62 / gallon = Roughly the California price for gas :)

In the late fifties, gasoline was approx. 30 cents per gallon. Since then, almost everything else, housing, food, automobiles etc., have increased in price by ten times! Gas would have to be $3.00 per gallon to equal it's late fifties price, adjusted for inflation. And here's the thing that blows me away. In the late fifties, little fuel efficient vehicles were few and far between, despite the high price of fuel. Now that gas is cheap as water, econoboxes are the U.S. consumer's first choice! Either U.S. citizens are very 'green' conscious, or gluttons for punishment!

I remember gas at 29 cents agallon in 72, we used to pull into station and get a $1.50 worth. Drive around all nite.
As for water, my home has well water , only pay for filter, electric and repairs. Tastes better than bottled water.

I pay $0.69 for a gallon of water. I will gladly pay that much for gas. Also I can live without gas.
