next question: how can you tell your cpu is CB0,CC0 or even CD0

use sisoft s.a.n.d.r.a. it will tell you in the cpu & bios information module

all 681's are cA2

Bangsailio please read what I said properly. cA2 stepping does not support SMP, hence cA2 stepping coppermines are not SMPable!

haha, i meant, i agree with you, "NO, they are not smpable."

my overall bad.

The ca2 stepping is not SMP capable. Most cB0 and later stepping
Pentium 3 processors are capable of SMP, but not all, as an example the cB0 1GHz P3 is not SMP capable.

SMP does not require the same stepping processors but it is recommended. The Intel website contains information on which steppings are officially supported in SMP configuartions together.
