One of my friends is looking to get a ~$6000 rig from Dell and was wondering, when does the next wave of DX10 cards come out? Right now Dell would give him 2 8800GTX's set up in SLi, which is fantastic by all current standards. He's just curious to know.

i say get the best computer for when you need it. forget about waiting, especially if your budget is 6K.

6K?! does that come with a monitor?

8800GTX IS the next generation (its getting abit old now dont you think). R600 just hasnt been released yet.

Well, R600 is in for a Q2 launch, and we may well see the refresh of G80 in that timeframe depending on how fast the R600 is.

Dont buy Vista since SLi isnt as stable, so youre friend should go with the XP route til Sli is mature in Vista.

Spending $6000 on a PC is the stupidest thing in the world, and that's one big ripoff if it only comes with a 20" monitor. A 30" 3007FPW costs a fourth of that or less. Tell him to build one or get something from Cyberpower.

priced equivelent cyberpower comp to the most expensive 6K dell and it came out 2k cheaper. probably cheaper if you build yourself if you OC proc.

His options are open, for sure. I just told him about cyberpower and he'll look into it.

Agreed..FFS, 6k PC w/o a 30'' monitor? And tell him to build his rig by himself.. He'll save a lot of bucks..
