It looks like they might finally get rid of some of the chrome on the Passat (thank God). It definitely looks a lot like big bro (the Phaeton).

The coupe looks nice but that pic looks photoshopped.

It looks like they got the volvo designers on the passat... one of the we got a passat because we didn't like the flare out design of the new volvos... the body flares out from the roof columns.

The new Golf looks a lot like the Peugeot 307 from the front

The New Passat Interior doesn't look good. The dash doesn't flow like the current one.

That's what I thought too. Nothing wrong with that IMO, 307 looks good in my opinion.

I'm not sure that is that the final interior. The interior looks different than in the outside pics

I totally agree...that was the first thing I thought. I still like the look though...and if the reliability is better than it has been...the Passat could very well be my next car.

The Golf hints me to the audi A3. Usually the newer models looks crappier but I have to say these new ones are pretty nice looking, imo.

None of those pictures are real. The Passat pictures shown are basically morphed pictures of the VW Phateon and Phaeton concept vehicle shown 2-3 years back. The Passat coupe is a morph of a Skoda Coupe concept shown in a auto show a year or 2 back. The interiors photos of the Passat is actually the interior of a VW concept E-Passat. kinda totally wired with all hi-tech gizmos demo passat for an auto show, again 2-3 years back.

That said, the word on street is that the next Passat (to be out in end 2004) will have a base 200HP engine and 260-280hp VR6. AWD will ofcourse be an option. Suspensions etc will be of much better caliber than current. Interiors will set new benchmarks. I think that will be cool, considering that the current 6+ yrs old Passat model is still the king of interiors, which everybody tries to copy.

Hmm I guess I'll have another year and a half with my Passat before I upgrade to the new ones.
