I think he means the NEXT generation, not those old 7800 series cards...

Why do you even speak of those legacy cards????

I'm willing to bet we dont see the next generation until Vista comes out.

So Q2 2006.

I believe NVidia will just roll with the 7800 in different formats.

It doesnt appear ATI is going to best the 7800GTX anytime soon so they dont have any real reason to force upgrades.

With Vista expect DX10, then, expect DX10 video cards... thus, the Nvidia 10000XLT!!!

Or something equally as large in numbers!

Gee, another person who already knows how the X1800 XT performs, eh? I must be the only one around here still in the dark.

Even if the ATI 1800XT outperforms the 7800GTX, I would imagine that Nvidia will just release a 7800 Ultra, rather than bringing out the next gen prematurely.

I beleive the correct name for it is the 8800crackfootmonkeybatherXT PE (Also available in Gt).

well they've changed their production cycle to 12-14 months now so i would expect Q2 or Q3 next year unless Nvidia plans differently. we may see a refresh part from NV in Q1 06.

I heard in an interview with Tim Sweeney of Epic that the Geforce 8 will be 4 times more powerful than the 6800 Ultra. That's why I bought a cheap X700 Pro. 🙂
