When are these due out? also what kind of response times are they supposed to have? I'm in the market for an LCD but ghosting is a big issue because I play a lot of FPS games (CS, Q3, Wolf, etc...)
Theyre out now IMO.
Ive just got myself a NEC 1550M 15". Its expensive for its size but theres no ghosting in games and the colours and brightness are fabulous. Better than my Iiyama 451 19" CRT IMO.
350 cd/m2 brightness, 450:1 contrast, 25 ms pixel refresh (black-white-black).
When i compare this to my older TFT its like you say - next gen LCD.
thanks for the reply... that is a very nice LCD you have there. how come some peole still complain about ghosting w/ 25ms? i heard there are sup 20 ms LCDs coming out soon... any truth to that?
I think the ghosting problem seems to be a thing with the MVA panels maybe?
Maybe i am less fussy?
I game a lot and am happy with my TFT's though do bear in mind that the 1550M is specced a lot better than a lot of the TFT's available at the moment.
If you really want to know about the ghosting thing with LCD's and was thinking of getting one i would say you really need to try for yourself before buying as its too big a risk to shell out the sort of money TFT's cost just on heresay from users IMO.
What i maybe happy with you may not find to your liking.
There are already 20ms TFT's out already. Compaq have one out right now, though i cannot get one here in the UK yet and have yet to come across anyone who has used one.
The NEC 1550M was the best i could get in my price range other than the Eizo L365 which is also a great TFT from what ive heard.

I haven't read any evidence to suggest MVA causes ghosting. There is a reference in the Tom's Hardware article that the only panel he tested that used MVA technology had ghosting but that is far from evidentiary. THere IS good evidence that is is caused by slow response times (and individual tolerance) - I have yet to see a way to test maunfacturers claims of response times BTW. Different video cards likely have different effects on the same panels and pixel pitch probably have effects too.
The latest iteration of LCDs is pretty good. As far as anyone is letting on - the NEXT generation is a solid year from widespread introduction.
