Next gen Grand Theft Auto.

So has there been any word or rumor? Any pre released screens? Anything? Just wondering, as i would love to finaly play GTA with nice graphics.

I don't think there's any risk of them dropping such a profitable franchise, but I don't know any specifics concerning the next release.

Only rumor I know of is that its going to be called GTA World and cover cities from multiple continents.

MMOGTA would be awesome. It would inspire awe in me at least. I would actually pay a subscription for that. and that is truly, truly saying something.

i think i'm done with the GTA series.
its become stale and boring.
the last game was the worse with its gangsta rap crap theme. i played it for about 4 hours total and then put it up on ebay.

Agreed. GTA3 was a lot of fun, but it just went downhill from then on. Companies need to stop pushing sequels and try something new already.

a new engine isn't going to do anything for me if its the same old crap of doing the same old missions.

i actually loved the GTA series.. not for the senseless killing n destruction.. but the variety of the missions ( i just love stealing a jet from an aircraft carrier, or stealin' a tank from a military base(san andreas), or even sellin' ice cream (vice city)..snipin' at the airport..etc,etc and the list goes on

it kept me from gettin' bored..
and i can't wait for the sequel

its been awhile since i played VC, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't ice cream you were selling

There was a mod that made GTA3 or VC multiplayer. It was pretty much kill everyone else by using guns and cars. It wasn't that well done though.

While the missions can get tedious, and borderline impossible it seems, they are fun for the most part, and their getting better at mixing it up. Plus, you can just go off and goof around if you dont wannna do missions for the time being. I think if you compare gta 3 with gta:sa, there are definately improvements.

We now have motorcycles and bikes, a plane with full wings that you can FLY(imagine that, i know you guys had contests with your friends who could fly the dodo the longest) helecopters, a rocket pack(hell, i've had alot of fun with the parachute, or just skydiving into the ground). I know some may consider it a small point, but hopefully this expansion will continue on, and meby we get some more vehicals, a motor scooter(an off road motor scooter as well), a skate board, rollerblades etc. i think it adds alot to the game. Hell, i'd really like to see a hang glider.
THey've FINALLY made it so we can swim, which i feel was neccisary, and jumping over walls has saved my ass more than a few times. The little bit of character building up you could do in SA was cool, being abble to improve your skill with weapons to be able to move while shooting was nice, though hunger was a drag. Meby tweak that a little, but it was nice to improve your character over the course game.

All in all, i think moving to next gen GTA will improve, and then of course the sub sequent sequals will improve it even more. Plus, it's looooooong overdue for a cosmetic upgrade, while its not as important as say playability, i'd like to see it spruced up, i mean, who wouldn't.

EDIT: And for the record, the gangsta rap crap theme was no worse than the other two story lines, they need some reason for the main character to kill so many people, right. Plus, it had its betrayal and such motivation for CJ to continue the story line, although i havent finished it yet.

Me and my friend are playing Vice City now, and we both agree that GTA3 was much better. I personally can't stand the main character nor his attitude. Half the time I wish he would just shut up. The setting also isn't as interesting, nor the music. GTA3 just seemed like more fun.
