Enjoy!

The next 3-series is a few years off (2005) but the spies are starting to hear details about the next iteration.

- A six-speed manual will be offered
- iDrive finally makes its way into the 3
- A new 'paddle-shift' SMG will be available
- Styling will be the most conservative of all the BMW's
- Performance of the next 330 (won't be a 330, most likely it will be a 350) will rival the current M3
- Convertible will have a retractable hardtop
- It will be less expensive and offer more standard features (due to competition from Infiniti, etc.)
- A diesel will finally make it to the US.

Holy cow. Performance of an M3, less expensive and more standard features! Maybe I should lease my next car again.

This information was posted before, perhaps not from this website. I still don't think the bit about the cost is true...how could they make all that stuff available and make it cheaper? I mean, a retractable hardtop??? Not cheap. SMG? Not cheap. iDrive? Not cheap and not wanted. Diesel? Great, but certification will cost them a bundle and most Americans aren't ready for diesel sports cars.

Aside from the information on the 3series, there's a load of other information on that site worth taking a look at. Bookmark it!
Those things aren't cheap right now. But by the year 2005? Quite possibly. The A4 was putting some pressure, now the G35 is putting some pressure on the 3series, in another year or two, there should be more contenders. If they want to, they can find ways to make things cost less.

Someone posted this exact info some months ago.

1- Isn't BMW killing the 6 speed for SMG?
2- prolly
3-prolly
4- doubt it.
5-As the HP war is going it is more than likely
6- prolly. It should be cheaper to make by then
7- Doubt it will be cheaper than Audi
8- Prolly. Some people are saying diesel is the engine of the future.
