Next dumb solaris Question

How the hell do I get the home, end et all keys to behave? the tilde is starting to piss me off. I am so used to linux's keys that solaris has me MAD off balance. Having the same prob on slack8.0. Redhat and mandrake set these guys up for me by default, so I am lost. and until I get all my keys to work right vi is impossible to use, as once again I am used to using it on mandrake. Poking fun at me is more than welcome, provided you leave some other useful info. Idle flames will make my face turn red and feel pissed that I can't fight back 🙂.
Btw this is all under the setting of an ssh session to a bash shell on an ultra 1, using a standard keyboard(pee cee) with putty.

I dont understand what is not working. I havent gotten the chance to play with my new system yet, so I havent had the "joys" of finding out these wierd problems (used secureCRT at my last job to connect to everything and had no problems). More detail please! 🙂

Well simply put any of the keys in the intsert block simply insert a tilde (~) instead of doing what they aer supposed to do. Vi exhibits some rather interesting side effests as well but I have concluded that it simply needs to be not used. for instance typing "vd /usr/local/media/movies/horrors/furtherdown" means I have to back arrow all the way over to vd to make it cd. Maybe I'm missing some shortcuts as well any pointers to a cheatsheet would be appreciated. Either way I want my home key to take me home rather than entering a tilde. Ty
