Next chipsets we should expect to see after Springdale and Canterwood?

so we had Granite Bay back at the beginning of this year, then we moved onto Springdale and Canterwood (and NForce2 for amd.. havent been following them much)... What is coming next in the world of chipsets for Pentium and AMD?

for the amd side, nvidia will most likely release a non pro version of the nforce3 for Athlon 64, ALI (still around?) will also release a A64 chipset. There is also a good chance that AMD will make a chipset for the A64.

Intel's chipset will face good competition from ATI during the next several months, probably a mistake on intels side for giving them a license. Intel will also need to release a new Chipset to support Prescott.

as always, VIA will be lurking in the shadows.

I'm not so sure about the AMD side (I'm more of an Intel man myself), but I know AMD has their 8000 series chipset for the Athlon 64, Via has some other chipset as well, and, as Schadenfroh mentioned, nVIDIA has their nForce3.

Over on the Intel side, Intel themselves will not be releasing a desktop chipset for a little while, I believe (well...the i865+integrated graphics...but I don't think that counts). Via is working on a dual channel DDR chipset, since they now have an Intel bus license. SiS is working on one as well, but they also have a quad channel RDRAM chipset (the R659) in development. All of these 800MHz FSB platforms should support for Prescott (probably through a BIOS update), since it's supposed to be socket 478 compatible (initially).

Actually this will be no movement in the chipset arena for five quaters. The Canterwood/Springdale you see now will stay for some time.

I believe Intel will come out next with Grantdale, which should have PCI Express and Prescott support. :)
