next apple announcement?

Apple is releasing something on Monday, and it's hyping it as much as it can (www.apple.com). Sicne MWNY flopped bigtime and even the ipod didn't live up to some expectations, one would assume they'd have to have something spectacular on the way. The reports I've heard are a flat-panel imac and a G5, or (less likely) some apple peripheral like a digital camera. Does anybody here have any ideas, or does anybody even care?

I've heard that the G5 isn't that unlikely. I can't wait to see that machine!

Thank you for that update. Were it not for your emphatic reply, I might not know the status of apple computers in your eyes.

I wish I were there, when their product they're announcing is made known, personally.

You never know; it might become a viable alternative.

oh not an anti-apple flame thread ... i dont use apple .. but i would if someone gave me a g4/g5 .. wouldnt use mac os though, id put some ppc distro of linux or bsd on it ( yes i know mac os x has a fbsd kernel) .. but at the cost , for me i would just build a pc .. i dunno less proprietary, more variety of choices for upgrades .. but they are good machines .. and yes the case is nice, ive had to replace mobo's in them .. very easy to work with .. well the g4's .. the imacs are trash ..thats just honesty .. well just my thoughts ..

I personally like macs. I perfer mac OS X to Winxp any day. Now mac os 9 on the other hand....
If I could afford a mac I would get one. The next notebook I get will for sure be a mac, hopefully a g5.
Just for you info, I have a iMac with a 400 MHz G3, 256mb ram, 40gig hd running mac os X. And it out performs my 800MHz Celeron with 512mb ram running win XP.

Note: I did not buy the iMac, it was loaned to be from where I work so that I would learn about mac os more. I dont really like iMacs much, (I hate to work on them, I had to replace the mobo on one.....) but for use as lets say a secratarys computer it would be handy.
At least I do have the new mouse and keyboard.

Also, sence os x runs off of free bsd could you not use a driver from that for hardware...

"NO ONE CARES ABOUT APPLE AND THERE GODFORSAKEN PEICE OF CRAP COMPUTERS."

If you are going to try and flame something (that you obviously know very little about and have little or more likely no experience with) at least get your spelling/english correct. And please stop YELLING it's very rude. Now go read this thread. Hopefully it will help you understand Macs, how AT people feel about them, etc....

Ahem, Macs (though overpriced) are very good for what they do, and I greatly prefer its OS to any flavor of Windows. I would agree that it's a bad solution if you only have one machine, though.
