There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone liking and enjoying Zoo's, and the one at San Diego is really awesome.
As I finally find the very first interest Newt and I share in common.
As for the rest of Newt's views, they are most in let the buyer beware category.
But then again, there is another possible viewpoint because Newt is like the weather, wait an hour or so, and it can totally change. And by tomorrow, what Newt said yesterday is ancient history.
I used to like zoos when I was little. Now I find them dull. I prefer to see animals in the wild. Not for ethical reasons, just a preference. Animals in cages or captivity is boring. Sorry Newt, this doesn't help you win my vote.
Yeah but shit.. most of the animals worth seeing at the zoo are native to Africa which seems like a huge risk to travel to(disease/being mauled by a lion etc.). Nat Geo HD is close enough without the guilt of going to a zoo or the risk of dieing in the savannah. As for Newt...meh I don't see any importance of this relating to his bid for POTUS.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Not disagreeing with you but playing devils advocate, how do you feel when you see a savage, wild creature like a tiger being fed slabs of meat instead of prowling grasslands hunting for food?

Your response is somewhat similar to my father's when he moved to Southern California. And pointed out Californians stored their snow on mountains and not local side walks. After rain in the lower elevations does not require shoveling. And if my dad ever got nostalgic for snow, he could drive 50 miles and go visit it.
But still chris9461, you make a valid point, we do rob a lion of its natural environment for only our viewing pleasure. And we can now find endless films of lions in their natural environment we can view in our living rooms. But still you miss two points, (1) As many wild animals are in danger of becoming extinct due to mankind's incursions into their natural habitat, zoo can protect the species for possible reintroduction back into the wild. (2) Or we can talk about the poorly managed game farm in Ohio, where the dying owner recently released various extremely dangerous wild animals into an a populated Ohio. And poorly prepared police had little choice but kill most of them. I don't know about you Chris, but I don't want a hungry lion loose in my neighborhood.
