Just heard this on the news: "Some say that granting amnesty is just forgiving people for breaking the law."

Well DUH! That would be the definition of granting amnesty you dumbass.

Next thing we know they'll be saying that some say that being dead is only not being alive.

Ahh, how I wish I had a link to that reporter in a canoe that had people walk infront of her.

No, she was demonstrating "how deep" the flood was when two people walked through ankle deep water between her and the camera. Later, they tried again, and someone again walked through the scene, water still no more than calf deep.

sports reporters are just as bad:

when they interview a player on a team facing elimination in the playoffs and ask something like "how important is it to win this game???"

I love when the newscasters act like they're discovering something new while they're reporting the news.. Like they're gonna be the ones to 'break the case' after millions of dollars is spent in the investigation. And, they act like they're so into the questions they ask.. like they'll pry the answers out by squinting - complete overactors. I hate them.

Or how about newscaster banter? They say the dumbest sh1t between themselves that no real person can relate to. It makes me wanna stab them through the TV.

The local news in Orlando had a story the other night on wardriving. It was funny because the "scary" line they used in the commercials was "learn how high tech thieves rob you blind...without even coming into your home, tonight at 11." They also had one of the million stories on Myspace. In the story they had what looked to be about a 14 year old girl who claimed that she was being hit on by "predators" because guys were asking her for her age, sex and location. Now, I haven't ventured into a public chat room in years, but back in the early days of AOL, irc, etc. that was the standard first question asked. It has nothing to do with being a predator, people just want to have an idea of whom they are chatting with.

I cannot stand the news anymore.

The US TV news seems to be so much more sensationalist than any other news I have seen. It's like some kind of Hollywood razmataz, loosly based upon a true story. I like the BBC, but moreso the Channel 4 news here in the UK. OK, so there's no flashy lights and car chases, but if you've trained your attention span to be over say, 30 seconds, it's actually highly interesting but also informative.

Newsnight rules also. Paxman is a hero.

Sarcasm

I would have thought the stilettos part would have given it away

I got that, but I didn't want anyone searching for news reporters wearing stilettos. God knows what Dan Rather's been doing all those years.
