I know if you use most P2P programs your IP address is at there for everyone to see and they can track you and take every penny you have, even if you only have a few penny's, but what I was wondering is can they track your IP if you use newsgroups to download from? If so how?

Thanks

I know my news server knows but they are the only ones that should know. I know if you use a P2P it will be for everyone to see but using newsgroups no one but the news server sees it or am I incorrect?

And unless your server gets subpoena'd by the MPAA, noone will ever know about your bootleg a.b.erotic.socks vids :)

So, my questions is then, do you think it is safe to use newsgroups?

It's as safe as anything else.

There is no safety on the internet.
There is no privacy on the internet.
There is no where to curl up into a ball and cry on the internet.

Get over it.

Wrong forum, BTW.
