I've never understood why people making less than 50K a year are taxed anyway. Taxes should be based on ability to pay which someone makng less than 50k spends every dime they make unless they live like Sam Walden which very few Americans are taught but rather spend spend spend. I'm shocked (saddened) to this day when I see my employees paychecks and their rates are higher than mine.

I agree 40 bucks/week don't sound like much until you do the math.

Let's take my City for example just the city limits itself you are talking around 250,000 people and out of that population it is safe to say at least half easily make over 100K.

Ok so 40/week X 52weeks/yr = 2048 a person/yr extra spending cash
You take 2048 X 125,000 people=26,000,000 dollars that can be injected into the economy.

26 million isn't chump change in my book.

You think half of your city makes 100K+? Are you on crack? Where do you live, Beverly Hills?

Putting money into the hands of working people does have an effect on the economy. I love how the conservatives will fight any side of a issue no matter what. We should look back and see how many of you were in support of the $500 bush gave to everyone who made under 75k a year?

Consumers just spend it on shit from China. Don't Democrats think that government spending is more stimulating to the economy than consumer spending? Then why not let the tax break end so government can do it's job and fix the economy? After all, those consumers are just putting money back in the greedy free market hands of megacorporations and 1%ers.

Yeah I am pretty confident of that and I am 100% sure you couldn't afford to live here. You would have to move out of your parents basement. BoberWelfare Queen LMFAO ;)

Ah yes, the classic "you can't afford it" retort followed up with the ever popular "parents basement". You're quite a wordsmith. I'm sure the local 8-year-olds must truly be in awe of your razor sharp wit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison,_Wisconsin

The median income for a household in the city was $41,941, and the median income for a family was $59,840.

Based on the intelligence (or lack thereof) that you exhibit with every post, I'd have to guess you are well under the median.

Spending is stimulative to the economy. People benefitting from the payroll tax cut will spend the money, not add it to their pile and let it sit there.

Do you have any idea how money works? Do you really think the 1% have big money vaults that they swim in like Scrooge McDuck?

It's under your name and is a town of around 250K. Feel free to correct me though. Show me the error of my ways. What is this large city where everyone is in the top 5% of the country?

And seriously, that's the best insult you can come up with? I'm beginning to doubt that you're even an adult.

In a financial crisis, there is a lot of money sitting on the sidelines. We need spending now, not trickle down later.

Stop looking for a city that matches your description so you can claim you live there. Just be honest and tell us where you live. It's a fairly simple request. And by doing so you can prove me wrong. What could be better? You get to prove to everyone that you're right and I'm wrong. All you have to do is say what city you live in. It doesn't get much simpler than that. It shouldn't take nearly this long to remember the name of your city.

While I wasn't in favor of that I think it would not only be more effective but it would also not put us in a situation where it isn't politically feasible to end temporary tax cuts far after they planned on ending them.

So capital formation and saving is a bad thing? Debt and spending everything you have are good things?

Boy the world has changed a lot in the last few years.

Wimping out?? LMAO

You can't comply with a simple request to back up your assertion that your town is populated with 1%ers?

Just tell us what city you live in. Why is that so difficult? You're apparently afraid that either your lie or your ignorance is going to be exposed.

Its obvious he was referring to Madison. Lets see, he referred to it as "my city" and Madison is listed under his name. He stated the population to be around 250K, according to the 2010 census Madison's population was 233K.

He is dancing around now since you caught his error with the mean/median income facts, which prove his assertion of his town being populated with half whose income is 100K. Or whatever BS it was.

Don't know why it is so hard for someone to simply say, "ok, got my facts wrong, thanks for correcting". That person looks 100X more intelligent than one who continues to dodge and obfuscate while insulting the correct person.

And Ausm, why even start a new thread on this? Is there not a lively thread that YOU started on this very issue still on the first page of threads?

He's an unintelligent little troll. To him, politics is a team sport and he wants his team to win. This forum has seen dozens of little turds like him, and I'm sure he won't be the last. All we can do is hope he goes away.

And just to make him feel worse about his pathetic little life:
Males had a median income of $36,718
Since we now know that with his below average intellect he probably also makes less than the median wage, which means I earn at least triple what he does. So I could not only afford to live in his shithole little town if I chose, I'd be one of the wealthier residents.

Ouch.
