Remember that ambulance story in from Lebanon? How excited the media was over it? "Atrocity" they screamed....

Well, now that the story is proven fake, none of the media outlets will acknowledge their mistake.

Watch the video.

Read the detailed analysis.

Oh, the humanity....

If I were an Israeli I would be afraid of the rest of the world.. too stupid and too biased to even be of any help - EVER

How can so many supposedly learned and possibly intelligent people look at that hollywood prop and say it was bombed?

The media always does this, report something in haste and when the story changes they are slow acknowledge it. Don't read any conspiracies into it.

I consider you to be intelligent.. could you have honestly looked at those pictures and written a story about Israelis BOMBING an ambulance and all the other footage etc..

It almost feel like it was part of the Hez plan from the beginning when they abducted the soldiers

Maybe not THE plan but certainly a big part of it. Terrorist groups know they can't stand toe to toe with with even a half-assed military but they can manipulate a lazy media and strike fatal blows in the PR department. They also know that even if their staged events are later proven to be complete fabrications, once something is on the net it lives forever (much as people still think you need to recharge plasma TVs and the US financed Osama).

It used to be that the victors wrote the history. Not any more. Whoever can spread the most propaganda on the net wins that battle. The result: In modern warfare, western armies are now more worried about looking good (or not looking bad) than they are about winning.

Remember when Saddam held his "guests" in military targets in Desert Storm? They don't even have to do that anymore. All they need is a well written press release and some gory photos (that most likely have nothing to do with the actions in the press release) and the press will pick it up and run with it without question. And since there are no more investigative journalists left to check out the facts, the pack mentality of the press takes over.

Come on liberals.. fight about this as much as you do when you want to say something bad about Israel..

What about Hez?? ******.. for all we know they probably pop those vents out and start firing on Israeli soldiers from the rooftops of Ambulances

I don't really know the story, never heard of it until this thread. I figured it was another story blown out of proportions by the blogs.

Edit: Just clicked on the video link, yep MM. Nuff said.

Nice -- avoiding the facts because you don't like who is delivering them....

Man, you guys are worse than the 9/11 conspiracy idiots. Clearly SOMETHING happened to that vehicle, and while the media reports could be wrong about what that something was, you guys are acting like it's a vast media conspiracy to make the Israelis look bad. That website keeps talking about "the media" as some monolithic entity that acts with one will, those doctored photos weren't the actions of a single person, the entire media is at fault.

But like all conspiracy theories, this one falls a little flat. Yeah, there is plenty of vaguely intelligent blather about the minute details of the incident...but what is NOT explained is what really happened and why the media would lie about it like that. If they were really trying to put one over on everyone for the benefit of the bad guys, why not just blow the damn thing up and claim it was the Israelis? Instead, they were apparently clever enough to enlist dozens of people to tell the same lie, but not smart enough to not leave clues that some braindead idiot with a webpage could supposedly uncover...just like every other conspiracy.

You want to know what happened? The ambulence was hit by something (perhaps a bomb detonating close by or something) and was damaged. Eyewitnesses are very unreliable, and almost always exagerate things. The media sees a good story and pounces, only to later figure out that they got some of the facts wrong. There is no vast media conspiracy here, just the same stupid stuff that happens every day in that business, especially in a war. Hell, how long did it take them to figure out that Swift Boat vets were full of it? Clearly the media could be a little more on the ball, but the valiant Israel defenders can have a big group unbunching of their panties if you don't mind...

There is something deeply wrong with people like you...you're all for freedom until someone uses their's to do something that bugs you, then they deserve to die. That's great there Adolf, but you live in the USA...and as the conservatives always say, if you don't like it, feel free to leave. I suggest one of those crummy little -stan countries over in the former Soviet Union, I'm sure they have an attitude towards freedom more to your liking...

Right.. .. you truly think the media is mentally challenged.. and accidentally CHOOSES to print stories in an outrageous manner .. How in the hell do they fall for BS like this...

You think they had NOTHING to do with the runup to the war.

Then had nothing to do with giving the swift boat bets all kinds of power - enough to help destroy our democracy..

You can really, honestly, passionately rationalize away all of their actions?

Well.. tonight we both lost a lot of respect for each other.. but you probably didn't have any for me.. that's ok.. I didn't think of you as a gullible person..

I did read the link, and I think very little has been proven either way. There is enough there to bring up some interesting questions, but like the 9/11 conspiracies, there is just not enough information to really conclude very much of anything...certainly not enough to suggest that the reporters involved need to be KILLED. And if I'm being a jackass, it's only because I have a total lack of respect for people in this country who don't seem to realize it's not ok to go around killing off everyone who does something you don't like. And in the US, people seem to have a particular hard-on for wacking the press...everything they do someone wants to throw them in jail or try them for treason or hang them or some dumbass thing. At most, AT MOST, that "article" suggests that the reporters put too much value on the eyewitness accounts and didn't do a good enough job verifying the facts...and for that, apparently, they deserve to die. So you'll forgive me if you find what I said disrespectful, I assure you, I'm giving you EXACTLY the amount of respect you deserve.

You're wrong...I think the media has a lot of problems, especially, as you pointed out, their inability to detect when they are blowing things out of proportion. I think they could use a LOT of improvement, and in most cases I think they are just marginally better than nothing. My only point is that this is not some special case, this isn't some huge anti-Israeli conspiracy that a lot of people seem to think it is...this is what they DO. They listen to a few people who may or may not have an agenda, then print it like it's found gold, and only later do they step back and realize that MAYBE they were a little hasty.

Edit: As for respect, I'm sorry if you feel that way, but I don't happen to think that respect is something gained or lost with one post. I assure you, the people I don't respect on here have been building that lack of respect for a long time ;)

I will humbly accept the fact that I am assuming they purposely did a horrible job and because of that they completely whitewashed anything Hezbollah did wrong to start this war..

I was wrong for asking for their deaths.. .. truly ..

but I know that their actions will lead to more people being killed and in turning the tide towards more hatred for their Israelis

I know it may not be needed .. but I do apologize.. I have no right to call for anyones death...

I just have no trust at all in our media or our government or any politician whatsoever :(

You, Moonbeam and Perknose are still my favorite posters here of all time.. I just have a lot of anger and with all the darn confusion in the ME .. Reporters and Journalists really should be much more careful :brokenheart:

I agree that reporters and journalists need to be more careful, but not just because this particular situation is touchy, but because what they do is truly important. Republican talking points aside, an independent media fills a very important watchdog role that should not be taken lightly. Yet their obsession with sensationalized stories seems to be getting the better of them in recent years...witness their inexplicable leap to covering the Ramsey case 24/7 while there is a shooting conflict in the Middle East. Talk about silly decisions.

Do you really think the media is whitewashing Hezbollah's role in this conflict? The fact that they have been bombarding Israel with rockets for a long time, and the fact that they kidnapped some Israeli soldiers, is rather public knowledge and widely reported by the media.

Do you ever think there will be an "independant" media? It seems like journalism has always been sensationalistic.

ALEXANDER Downer conceded yesterday he could have been wrong when he claimed the media was duped about an Israeli missile attack on an ambulance in southern Lebanon.

A day after the Foreign Minister was found to have relied on an unsubstantiated internet blog report to attack the media, Mr Downer was conceding the possibility the Red Cross ambulance could have been hit by other weaponry.

"I notice that new claims are being made about, well, there was a drone and something was shot out of the drone, maybe it wasn't a missile," Mr Downer told ABC Radio.

Defence analysts yesterday said Israel was a world leader in drone technology, including drone-borne munitions.

YEP.. I knew it.. the Israelis have resorted to using Cannonballs.. That way they do not leave any fire burns and do not cause any damage by fire or flames or anything obvious like that  - I guess we will all believe what we want to believe as evidenced by religion and the flat world and the death of Socrates and the justification of slavery and murder of "witches" and on and on..
