This is on all of the stations now, even though MSNBC reported 10 minutes ago that the landing gear had been locked down and it would land fine. The other stations are still talking about how it's going to be a scary, tense landing.. sensationalism at it's best.

I don't even know what you're talking about. Watch out though, because if you posted this and someone else posted about it in P&N Remy XO might play forum police for posting it in OT too.

Is this another situation like the one that took place a couple months ago with the one plane that had to land on locked gear?

Is this the Nike corporate jet?

Text
Nov 21, 2005 ? PORTLAND (Reuters) - A Nike Inc. corporate jet with faulty landing gear was circling over Portland to burn off fuel before attempting a landing, aviation officials said on Monday.

Nike Chief Executive William Perez was not on the flight, according to local television reports. Nike officials were not immediately available for comment.

Seven passengers were reported to be on board.

They may try to go to Hillsboro airport to try and jar down the landing gear," said Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration. Hillsboro is near Beaverton, Oregon, a Portland suburb where Nike is headquartered.

"They have not decided where it will land," Kenitzer said.

This isn't actually about that news item, but about how stupid news stations are. They love to keep stuff going for as long as possible.

Then you might be alright. ;)

Think about it from the news station perspective: it's a slow Monday morning/afternoon and you need stories to fill time. Not only that, but you've already spent resources on a story and you don't want to cut it out and flat out prove it was a waste to your higher-ups. That's probably why they're dragging it out.
