And in other news today from the Battle Front...

The first member of my fire team suffered a minor defeat today, in the face of the notorious Toby the Cat. He is being tended by a Corpsman, who is searching for a new Super I/O chip, since there was a minor explosion in the mezzanine, where Toby the Cat fell asleep in the warmth, while on prowl during a reconnaissance mission. Reports indicate that someone went to fetch more ammunition, made a whirl, and a few ratchet like sounds, which startled Toby the Cat, and while he was fleeing to get the hay out of dodge, he somehow pushed the mezzanine into 550#3 and damaged the interface circuitry for 550#3's tactile human input device, which prevents his system from completing boot-up...

May send most of 550#3 back stateside for R&R, and since equipment is short, let 550#4 utilize it until he returns from R&R.

If I understand you correctly, couldn't you boot #3 with #4's keyboard, unplug the keyboard, plug it into #4, and boot it too?

And what exactly are you referring to as the "mezzanine"? ;)

Edit: I didn't understand you correctly. I thought the cat broke the keyboard in two and the I/O chip was for something else.

Unfortunately not.

Upon your motherboard there is a I/O chip that connects to many off board devices
like your keyboard, parallel port, serial port, and so on.

Basically, the I/O chip is fried and not being recognized during POST, thus not allowing many functions, and the way the bios is written, it halts the system because of failure during the self-test phase.

If I don't find a replacement I/O chip for the motherboard, I'll just snag a few more on my next Fleabay auction.

LOL

Naw, the squadrons would send their avionics equipment in to me for repair. But I did drool over transistor spec sheets....
