Yeah, sure. You should check Steam. GTX680 has a higher number than 7800 and after 5 weeks the same number like the 7970 after 7 weeks.

So good old Charlie is back. D:

Noooooooooo,Charlie is right! Only 10,000 GF100's were ever produced, and the defect in GK104 was found in the part of the chip that's houses the dedicated physx logic.

Sarcasm is my best friend.

AMD responded with price cuts, because of gtx 680 presence, not lack of it.

See, what I think is going on is that these 28nm chips will overclock to 1400mhz+ given the proper voltage and good cooling. I think that nVidia realizes that the GTX 660 will cannibalize the GTX 670 and 680 for less money for the consumer, so they're holding off. They're going to make as much money as they can with the wafers that they produce. It's too bad. You know what, though, it's going to drive a lot of people to AMD with the 7850, IMO. There are only so many people willing to spend $300+ on a GPU.

At the moment nVidia doesn't care because they don't have the supply for every market segment. What they are doing is to produce GK107 for the OEM deals and GK104 for the (High-End) desktop market. As long as they can sell all their GK104 chips they don't need another design on the market.

Didn't we establish a few months back that Steam hardware surveys tell us very little and aren't really good for basing any conclusions on? And then a few months later? And then... well you get the gist.

When you consider the price range that the 680 is in, it's low quantities, I think it's perfectly feasible that only some 10,000 or so have been sold... Of course, we don't have official sales figures, and if Nvidia was moving huge numbers of them, we would here about it (I would assume). But Nvidia has been pretty quiet.. I think they are hurting from the Fab issues they are having.

It offers some insight but one may look at Jon Peddie or Mercury research but place more faith in Steam Data than Charlie and SemiAccurate!

Indeed.
