hahaha, all of them are pretty dumb if you don't know the caliber of the pepper you are eating.

I'm pretty bad with spicy food, for me I just get instant hiccups.

Ehh, that was the smart way for it to go out. If she hadn't barfed it up, she'd suffer a horrible fire-arhea later on.

Man I watched some actual spicy food guys eat this chip a week or so ago and they really struggled to get to the one minute mark after eating it. I sincerely doubt anyone who doesn't eat super spicy peppers often could eat this without throwing up or drinking milk asap

Oh god. That poor woman.:(

Spicy food is not to be taken lightly. Capsaicin is a powerful irritant.

I love hot sauces, even really hot sauces, but I think I'll pass on that. 2.4M is absurd.
I like around the 500k point .... not for eating straight up, but, for using as an ingredient when cooking...

That said, I still prefer cooking with fresh habaneros

Agreed. Habaneros are the best balance of heat and flavor. Most of those ridiculously hot chilis like Trinidad, Reepers, etc are unusable.

Is this that "One Chip" challenge?
My buddy did this, he's a hot food freak. He handled it pretty Ok. Just needed a few sips of water but said it was certainly the hottest chip he's ever eaten.
FB video'ed it.

LOL! Seriously, why would you eat one of those? Especially during a TV newscast?

Oh well, it made me laugh. :D

Chilli Klaus is a frickin lunatic.

I love when he is interviewing somebody with a big bowl of superhots and they just start eating them and they instantly gag and get hiccups but he somehow manages to maintain some level of composure .....

I like imagining the concentration of those musicians to get through the piece, especially that poor trombonist that is struggling mightily. I especially feel for the brass and woodwinds (the double-reeds in particular), because that is enough of a strain on your embouchure that adding firey needle lips can't help.

Thanks for sharing this. Got a great laugh out of it. To be fair though, they still sounded great throughout. I was anticipating the orchestra to be a trainwreck by the end. Good stuff.

I know right? that's really what I got from it. The concentration they maintain. It lends a lot to the notion that pain is as much mental as it is biochemical. Just concentrate on something else and it's amazing how much pain you can ignore.

That coffee is what got her. I can't imagine drinking a hot drink after eating one of the hottest peppers in the world.

Yes, that whole orchestra plays heroically through their ordeal.

One chip is really, really unlikely to cause that in my experience. There's just not enough in it. If you ate a whole bag of them (if they were sold that way) then maybe.

As for the chip itself - If you're at all accustomed to hot stuff you'll be fine. It's hot for commercially prepared food but not nearly as bad as eating a fresh pod of any of the superhots. I had no trouble holding a conversation normally immediately after eating it. No tears, no drinks. It's really not that big a deal - If you are used to that kind of thing. Dropping that on the general sriracha loving population though? That is a recipe for great entertainment value.

Ahhh, ok.
I assumed the chip was like 1 million+ Scoville

I guess I just have bad memories from making chilli with superhots and the pain from the afterburn is much worse than the burn which causes instant hiccups & gagging.
