A Million Model Years
Dave Frame
29.12.03

Over the weekend the experiment clocked up its millionth model year. This means we've managed, in a little over three months, to simulate a million years of the earth's climate.

We've started writing up some of the early experimental findings, and hope to have something ready for publication some time in the first few months of 2004.

Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far, and I hope you'll stick with us into next year.

:Q 1.000.000 MYs :Q ... way to go 😀

It sounds in their news and some other news that they arent THAT satisfied with the current speed, they expected more 🙂, I think this is already a great achievement because WU take so long to process which definately makes this project less appealing.

Well, yes! They thought of way more machines but slower as well. So this somehow compensated for each other.

But the heavy drop out rates that occured recently indeed are a big problem. Most ppl drop out of the project after they completed one full run (=45 modelyears) cause it takes so long 🙁
