Newport Cigarettes and Nike

Does anyone who smokes or has friends who smoke Newport cigarettes tell me if they also think their logo at the bottom right of the box looks EXACTLY like the Nike logo upside down. I don't smoke but I just noticed this on my friend's box. I want to know what's up with that - which company came first and isn't using the mirror image of a symbol a trademark infringment? Thanks.

The look simular but it is just a swish, it's fairly common. There are other sneaker companies with swish logos as well. Mostly the cheap brands you see in Walmart.

Newports are some nasty cigarettes. I don't smoke anymore but I remember those things. Nasty, after crack mints.
