newly built pc won't POST

I just finished assembling my new PC tonight and I can not get it to POST. When the power is turned on all fans (CPU, case, video, etc.) all come on. The DVD drive activity light comes on and stays on. (There is nothing in the drive.) The lights on the keyboard, which normally flash on power-up do not do so. The monitor light remains amber. Here are the components:

GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3
Corsair XMS DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 (1.9v) 2x512MB
Core 2 Duo E6400
ATI Radeon X700 Pro
WD Caviar SE16 WD2500KS
Sound Blaster Live PCI
Pioneer DVD drive
NEC DVD+/-RW DL

The only thing I can think of is that some older BIOS versions of this board have issues booting with RAM anything other than 1.8v. But that was supposedly resolved in a previous BIOS update. The thing is, I can't even find out what BIOS version I have since I can't get it to POST.

Any ideas?

Did you try getting it to POST with only the bare minimum of components, including only 1 stick of RAM? If not, try just going with CPU, HSF, 1 stick memory and video card and see if it POSTs or not. Also, what PSU do you have? Did you plug in all necessary power connectors into the board?

I tried it with just one stick of RAM but no luck. The PSU is the 420w supply that came with the case (RAIDMAX Scorpio). I'lll try removing the optical drives and the audio card and see what happens. Won't able to do so until tomorrow evening unfortunately.

Fans spinning, lights go on, but no posting.... sounds like a dead motherboard. :frown:

Removed everything except CPU and video card. No POST, no beeps. So it is either the CPU or mobo.

I don't think it is the PSU. Everything powers up just fine - fans, drives, etc.

Do you have another PSU you could try in there. I know Raidmax aren't known for great PSUs. I say either that or the board though.

I'm sorry...but that doesn't mean the power supply is just fine.
