Hi guys,

I just bought a prebuilt pc online
I7 2700 sandy bridge
Gigabyte ga-z68a-d3h-b3
Gtx 560
2x3tb hd
240gb ssd
Thermaltake 600w psu

I received the PC and everything seemed fine. Double checked every connection before installing windows. Then I try to access the bios.

I just dont seem to hit the del button hard enough. And when I think I get it, all I see is a black screen, no bios. After 40 tries, I finally managed to access the damn bios to put the cd in the boot sequence.

Then I boot from the windows cd. I have win7 ultimate in 64bits.

The installations fails while being in the "windows is loading files" status, getting a I/O error saying that its caused by a faulty drive. Double checked all connections again; nothing.

After that, I have to reboot to try it over again, but at every reboot, my screen goes on sleep mode and doesnt come back to life. The computer is working in the background, but just nothing on screen.

If I close the computer and screen completely, and reopen them all together, I get my display one out of every two tries.

After a couple dozens of tries, I finally get my screen to display and get through the windows loading files screen. I install windows, everything seems to work fine (except the point that I have to shut down the computer completely at every reboot and restart it until I get my screen to show something)

So now I have a freshly installed windows7; proceeding to the updates, and as Soon as I update the video card's drivers, the display is going in sleep mode as soon as windows boots.

I then restored windows to get my display back, but everytime I update the drivers, i get this problem.

I disabled every onboard component I didnt need; same problems.
I tried to install windows on one of the drives instead of my ssd; same problems.
I tried to install windows without any hd; just my ssd; same problems.
I tried to install windows with just my onboard video card; same problems.
I tried my screen on other computers, no problems.

Never encountered anything of the sort and I honestly dont know what to do anymore. The seller is from out of the city and isnt helping much since its the weekend and his tech is unavailable.

So I basically have three problems here:
1-the I/O issues while installing windows
2-problems accessing the bios
3-losing display everytime I go on sleep mode (reboot or after the windows welcome screen for example)

So I really cant use the computer right now. The parts are under a 3yr warranty, but if its a serious build problem, I have to react right now since I have 10 days for returns. I dont want to return it since I will lose money on shipping and also this is the best deal I could find anywhere.

I would like to know whats going on and look for ways to isolate the problem. That could mean having to RMA just one component instead of the whole rig.

Can any of you guys be of any help? Is there good softwares I can use for diagnostics?

Thank you so much for the help.

Did it before and at this point, I cant even access the bios to go reenable the onboard video that i've previously disabled.

But when I did, the computer was behaving exactly the same on onboard video then with the gtx560.

Ok; reseted the bios and got back the video on board. Same results.

Now with the Gtx560, I get a blue screen at startup. Nice.

Im reinstalling windows with just the ssd and the gtx. As soon as I got a working version, I will not do the updates until I lose my disply completely again and try to run some tests.

What's the best hardware testing softwares out there? I've been out of the game for a couple years.

If you can't always get into BIOS, and sometimes just see a black screen, then I'd be willing to fault the motherboard.

However, your video issues make me think it's the graphics card.

Do you have a spare DVI/HDMI cable you could try in place of what you are using? Probably not the issue, but worth a try.

If you can get into your BIOS, have you tried disabling onboard video (motherboard)? Mabye a conflict between the onboard video and your graphics card.

How about resetting the BIOS? Tried it?

I think i've found the problem, the PC is dead as we speak.

My guess is that the mobo was faulty and fried the psu; thus the no power situation.

The shop is sending me a new mobo and psu; so to be continued.
