Newest Catalyst driver slows my 6950 down...? WTF...?

Just got it in and was playing it as stock and had some slightly older drivers installed and started to go into the overdrive section just to play with it a bit and decided to update to the newest drivers 11.1 and did so and just ran a little utility to see if any improvement and it was down a good bit...? Checked it a bit farther and found the stinking thing was running my core base clock down to 625mhz...? Why...? Stock is 800mhz so why the cut back...? This not throttling it wont go up unless I adjust it in either overdriver or Afterburner...?

Not a happy camper if this is how AMD/ATI or whatever they are is going to play...?

Or is there a simple explanation where I end up saying DOH...!

In 2D mode. Doesn't these cards downclock themselves ? Does it raise when loading a game ?

Install the catalyst 11.1a from here http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst111aHotfix.aspx or revert your drivers.

Will give that a try but sure weird they did that...?



MentalIlness... No this is in every mode and for sure a loss in performance all the way around by down clocking the card... Will post what I get with the hotfix...

Just did the hotfix and it worked but will test it more this evening after that job thing...
