Newer Macbook or Mac Mini and Linux only?

Anyone have a newer as in the latest Macbook or Mac Mini running Debian or some sort of BSD? I want to try to convert completely over to that side. The only computers that appeal to me are Macs though due to simplicity. Anyone find any guides? I have a hard time finding newer ones 🙁

Simplicity? I think all the alleged Mac simplicity comes from OSX. Installing Linux on a Mac will take that ease away, and you'll just have an expensive PC.

If you want a low power machine that will run linux of some flavor, a home theater PC, or a mac mini i think would be the best choices. most laptops now run about the same power consumption i would think. Its not about Mac or PC, a mac IS a PC and has all the same components. But anything with low power or undervolted components, and no active cooling will be a low power device, as fans are a huge power hog. Passive cooled CPU and passive cooled video alone will save a ton in power consumption. A lot of people BUILD low power machines with specific parts designed to be low power.

Thinking macs are simpler hardware-wise is just naivety.

Look at a Mac Mini. It's simple.... I don't know how else to put it? I don't want to build a cheap box if I can get a Mini.

A Macbook has the magsafe power connection, a straightforward trackpad etc.... no laptops out there compare.

eh....i mean macbooks are nice and all, but the real killer feature on them is the battery life, not the god damn power plug. as for the mini...if small and "a bitch to repair yourself if it breaks" = simple then...well ok.

you could just say you like the stylings of the damn things since thats what it sounds like. nothing wrong with that, but if thats all you really care about youre kinda gonna pay a lot for it (and if youre cool with that, fuck it, buy whatever you want)

You mean as in the new i5 ones which came out like 2 weeks ago or simply the unibody? I have a 2009 unibody 17" Macbook Pro with triple boot OS X, Debian, and Vista.
