NewEgg's Radeon 8500 - a lying game?

I noticed that this is the second time NewEgg failed to fulfill their promise and have the ATI Radeon 8500 in stock on the specified date. Moreover, they keep changing the ETA date for Friday or the weekend, I assume so that no one can call them and complain about it. And next Monday, they just shift their ETA by a week or so.

What's up with that, Newegg?!

I guess Michael D was right, they'll just keep on pushing the ETA date back. I feel sorry for those idoit guys that were bad mouthing him for saying it could be delayed until the end of October, or even November. Now that seems more likely, since Dell pushed back their ETA to 10/26.

The only reason I can think that ATi would delay their cards would be to coinside with the WinXP release, or to work on drivers. But it's been a while since that old 8500 review, drivers should be ready by now. Maybe it's that UT problem Anand was talking about with the 7500. If that's the case, then ATi is just fixing bugs.

NewEgg is not to blame as Dell has also changed their ETA to the 26. However, I've seen many post that say that Tueday will be the day.
Mine's is due to ship on Monday from Dell, and so far I've gotten nothing from them saying otherwise. We will see.

All,

I think pushing things back is a simple CYA move. There are try to set expectations better than they have in the past. Given the fact that Ti500 boards are showing up, ATI cannot afford to push the launch back 2 more weeks. Dell $200 deal aside, if it ships the same time as XP, I'm cancelling my order. Tired of waiting for graphics card and nForce to complete my rig.

The KT266A's are out, seem to be doing well and OEM Audigy is cheap with similar CPU utilization numbers as the nForce. Works for me and combined will be around the same price, maybe $20 more, but I get to use it next week... not next month.

I'm with you, at least on the mb issue. Who has boards out now, and is the SB live really that bad with AMD cpus?

From what I've read, the KT266A's do fine with the SBLive & Audigy. I woudn't consider it if there was a problem. FYI the problem wasn't with AMD, it was with Via and Creative.
