Newegg's liteon dvdrom 16p9s 22.00 shipped. Firmware hackable so +r and -r will read up to 16x

Ah yes, I too thought it was for a burner. It's the whole 'firmware hackable so +r and -r will do 12x or 16x' makes it sound like it's a burner perhaps you should change it to 'firmware hackable so +r and -r will read at 12x or 16x'

so you cannot distinquish between dvdrom and dvdrw???

You have PM turned off so I'll reply here. Most people probably just quick glance these titles. At a quick glance, one could think it was a DVD burner. This thread has over 400 hits in 6 hours. It's not unlikely that Relax and I were the only ones who thought it could be a DVD burner. All I said was that it might make it easier on some people to change the wording of your title and emphasize the reading part one more time in a section of your title, by adding two little words, that can make things a little clearer. Instead, of saying something like 'Thanks, Bearxor I will do that to prevent future confusion by anyone else' or 'I think the title is self-explanatory enough for people who actually read it', you give me your little rolleyes smiley and then pose a question to try to make it sound like i'm a freaking dumbass. I'd expect more out of someone who has been a member for a long time and has as many posts as you do, ESPECIALLY on AT.

What was the purpose of replying to the same post twice? Was it so you could spew off some of that Diamond member holier than thou attitude that is way too common around here?

stupid post.
I read the dvd rom bit but it took a bit of reading to figure out that this wasn't hackable to turn into a burner.
You'd think you'd get that from your other replies.
You should stop crvpping in your own thread and clean up your post.

Please change the title, it is a bit confusing. Thank you.

please ignore this thread. thank you!

I think this post would be more well accepted by the more knowledgable people at cdrlabs or cdfreaks.

Myself, I thought the title and post were fine.

True, that's what I thought. But they were just messing with me? It was all game to them, real funny. This drive reads better then any dvdrw I have used, it is capable of reading those hard to read dvd-/+r burned disc that has numerous errors on it. I kid you not, I have some that wouldn't read in nec 3520a or nec 2510a. I would probably buy another one soon because it is so useful. Some think dvdrom are useless, they are wrong.

Ya know the 1635 is coming out this month. Im hoping it's 3 sheep like the 811s, it will have lightscribe too.

Wow, you read a lot more into the post than was there really.

First, I did not ask you to stop posting in hot deals, nor am I discounting the value of the deal. It is a good deal for a good drive.

Second, no one is just messing with you. It is not a game. I do not think a DVD-ROM is useless.

I stated something that would help people more easily identify the deal so they would not click on it if they did not need a DVD-ROM. You couldn't take my original post seriously and rather than responding in a mature manner or simply ignoring my post, you just came right out and insinuated I was stupid.

My second post was written in a very calm mature manner to simply point your immaturity, and if you had PM's on at the time it would have never been out in public. I'm not the grammar police or the hot deals police or the stupid police, I simply offered a very easily implemented suggestion that would clarify things a little better. If you read HD with any kind of frequency, you'd see that happens quite often actually.

Would this drive rip DVD faster than others?
My NEC 3250 rips DVDs so slow.

Thank Bearxor for your info.

The nec 3520 read most burned disc so slow, only disc burned by nec are read fast for some incompatibility problems? For ripping, I guess it is the same.

I don't just buy dvdrom just to read off dvd, but to also verify on the fly without using the burner which waste time and cause it to fail sooner. Not all burn is going to be perfect due to variation in media quality from disc to disc.

cdfreaks.com long thread about modded liteon 16p9s dvdrom and how most of them would love to become a guinea pigs. lmao! http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=134757&page=4&pp=25

You should use dvd shrink 3.2 for ripping. nec are such terrible reader you should not use it for ripping or playing off it. you will have problems, very high pi errors and pi failures. not because of the disc quality but nec are crappy reader. for ripping purpose a dvdrom will always be much faster.
check out this thread! http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=134757&page=6#post1054435
some disc that reads well on a dvdrom won't be readable on an nec burner at all!
