NewEgg What am I doing Wrong?

I have not bought anything with them in years ... and for a good reason. Being desperate, I decide to buy something. I go find the product in which they are the seller. Price: $129.99. Add it to the shopping cart and proceed to checkout. Type in ZIP for shipping an it is $3.99. No Tax. Yet there is a mystery that suddenly there are TWO items in the cart and that second item is invisible. Worse yet the order total is almost $180!

I notice the cart is reporting two items but only one is visible. If I remove that one item their checkout system reports the cart is now empty. I tried this twice with the same results. I bow to the great ATOT collective to educate me on what I must be doing wrong.

In the cart, you only see the 1 item you want?

What's the item? I'll add it to my cart and see if it's different.

I am unable to replicate your problem, doing a quick test with my account, so my first thought of the rotten Egg getting hacked does not appear to be so.

Second thought is, perhaps they by default checked marked an extended warranty on your product? Add the item again, and carefully scroll through the entire page, looking for any such nefarious check-boxes.

Then, get your butt over to the Distributed Computing Forum under Software, and help us defeat a My Little Pony team in a Folding@Home competition. They have proven to be some tough nuts to crack. :D

Hello there,

I am sorry to here about the shopping trouble. I would first suggest clearing your cookies and browsing history and logging out of your account and trying to make the order again.- Nick [Newegg Support]

Cleaning my browser cookies? I spend a lot of money online each year and do not encounter a cookie related issue. But I did clear the cookies and tried another browser and it is still happening. There is a free game (downloadable) with the item, but that comes up costing $0.00. Maybe that is the second item count. Still, no excuse for the 25% price increase at final checkout.

The item in question is this. I see Provantage has the item for the same $129.99 price and it is in stock. I haven't done business with them in years either but I guess that is also an option.

Jesus christ when you go to your cart and checkout it's like you are being spam blasted with all this shit to sign up for on Newegg. It's worse than trying to buy something at Game Stop or Best Buy in store where they try to sell you warranties and DLC shit.

I tried that item and yes it does equate to $182.01 during checkout, which then has a line below it for Discount $-39.99 resulting in a Grand Total of $142.02. Did you perhaps stop reading when you saw the $180?

My prices may be slightly higher since PA is now charged tax from Newegg.

It wasn't my initial desire to go to NewEgg. I usually try Amazon first, Micro Center next, but they were pretty depleted when it came to video cards. I guess something has produced bad shortages as pricing on video card products is going up like made--and that spurred my desperate move to try NE again.

Well, something has changed. Before it wasn't showing any discount, and before and after passing through the secure checkout it was still $40 more than what it is now showing.

It's related to Quake Champions pack free digital download being a 39.99 value. It is discounted as "Gift #1"
