**NEWEGG WARNING** Newegg's Deceptive Practices **NEWEGG WARNING**

I recently purchased a Hercules Fortissimo 2 sound card from Newegg. Here is the description on the web page: "Hercules Fortissimo II PCI, Cirrus Logic CS4624 Sound Fusion Chipset, 8mb Yamaha SYXG50. 4 speaker out; Optical In/out! A3D, EAX, DS3D, Sensaura 3D Engine Model#: Fortissimo II FedEx Saver Shipping $10.00"

I purchased it expecting to receive a box like this: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/hardware/features/amd14/fortissimo2.gif

Instead, I got some cables and a card wrapped up in bubble wrap! THIS WAS AN OEM!!!! That's total bullsh|t, considering that the words OEM weren't mentioned on the product description nor the invoice! This is nothing but blatant fraud! This is the last of order from Newegg from me, i've already spent over $1000 at their place. 🙁 This is very dissapointing.

So were the words "retail box" mentioned on the product description or invoice?

Usually they say RETAIL as well. Did you bother looking at the picture? It doesn't show a box, just the card, cables, and disc.

You lose. 😛

Nothing wrong with taking a picture of the stuff outside of the box.

This is a fortissimo2 which is on the invoice. A fortissimo 2 comes with a warranty. The crap they sent me DOES NOT. they didn't send me a fortissimo2, they sent me a fortissimo2 OEM.

Usually they have mulitple pictures, though, right? One including the product box...

I'm just a little in awe at how you can spend "over $1000 at their place" and not realize it's going to be an OEM.

Simple question bud. No need to get mad at me for asking it.

I agree that is less than forthcoming. Especially since OEM stuff comes with no or little warranty.

Write/call Newegg and explain to them your situation.

As for those trying to defend Newegg, come on. Were this any other company, you'd be all over them. Stop giving Newegg a free ride simply because they're Newegg and complain so they will fix these little, but very annoying mistakes they occationally make.

This doesn't make Newegg bad, it makes them human. Even good humans need reminders when they slip now and then.

However, saying you'll never shop there again because of this is a little over the top. Give them a chance to make it right for you.

call them up and ask for a refund. if you explain your situation, they might even refund your shipping.

Agreed it should say RETAIL if it were retail, you should look for that.

Point taken about Newegg, however.. I always have used them and tell people about them as they are "the best" reseller, but they should clearly mark whether it's OEM or retail just for.. people who don't look for RETAIL when they want it to be retail. 😉 😉

HAHA!!!
Look at that link above. It's the pic that newegg provides. The CD that comes with it clearly SAYS OEM RIGHT ON IT!!!
The PRODUCT LINK that newegg provides is never any good help unless you want more specs but you always have to look at their pic and their description to see if it says OEM or RETAIL. Sorry buddy, I, like many others, don't have any sympathy. You screwed yourself here.

<< Look at the "Product Link" they have under the description: http://us.hercules.com/
Navigating on that site to the fortissimo2 goes to this link
Well, what do ya know, a retail box....
>>

You sir, are a moron.

THIS is the newegg picture of the item you bought. That is all you're getting. Pointing out pictures of the Fortissimo2 retail box is just plain stupid. Thats not on neweggs site, so you shoulden't have expected to get it.

"Oh yea! buy.com has a picture of the box! Newegg should have sent me a retail box because buy.com has a picture of it!!!"

Give me a break.

Well, take back my earlier statement that it should be CLEARLY marked.. because it seems it indeed WAS! 😀
