My order was sent out of California last night, this morning it is already in New Jersey. Pretty impressive for Fedex saver shipping.

All Federal Express shipments are Air shipments. Only FedEx Ground, a subsidiary of FDX Corp, uses Ground...

yup, saver goes truck to nearest sort facility, fly's out to your closest sort facility, and heads your way, only difference is the priority the packages get at the moment.

I guess the rumor is if a person pays for 3 day and it only takes 2 days to get there, they'll hold it for an extra day. I'm not sure if this has happened to me.

Has also happened to me, but not with FedEx Super Saver. Only UPS and FedEx Ground.

I ordered from the egg via Fedex saver on Tuesday night. From CA it got to NY just this morning. 😕

It'll still get here in 3 days though... awesome service.

They've held my shipments before too... I like Fedex though...

The problem is, there must not be an airport out in souix falls south dakota (where all my packages come from when they get delivered to me)

It usually ships from california to memphis, then to souix falls... (I've saw the hub at memphis, definitely very cool)

My fedex lady makes it seem like she's doing us a favor when she delivers them a day early. I say if it's on your truck deliver it. Why leave that stuff on when she takes the same route every day.

IIRC the packages will get on an earlier flight if there is room. If not then they ship in the expected time frame.

I ordered several computer components late yesterday afternoon but as always Newegg not only processed the order but it was ready for shipment at Fedex last night according to the tracking number they sent. Those guys are unreal.

never happens to me.

I might order at 11 am CST, but it wont be approved that day, isnt approved until the afternoon of the next day and then gets shipped out a full day or so later.

IMHO, newegg is one of the slower shippers out there.

Strange. I have ordered from them dozens of times and they are always on the ball as I mentioned in my earlier post. I get the approval emails moments later, and if I ordered early enough, the stuff gets shipped out that night. Obviously the card you use or something is holding your process up. Just a thought since I am in the CST too and have no issues.

That is really wierd, because everytime when I place my order it never takes longer then 3 days to hit my doorstep as long as I place the order before 12:00 California time.

you must not shop online much, either that or you've just had bad luck. Slow shippers=you'll get it in 10-12 days. Newegg != slow.

Because they can make more money if you want a faster shipping time. Granted, giving it to you when they have it is the nice thing to do, but they don't have to do that.

I live in Memphis, and since NewEgg charges tax in TN now because they have a warehouse (which is most likely in Memphis since Ingram Micro is here), I still receive most of my orders from them from their CA warehouse via FedEx Express. I usually receive Saver Shipping items the next day. Nice having the FedEx World Hub here too 😛

Express saver packages are given the priority "they go anywhere that there's room leftover"

This means that if there's a few pounds of weight left on the first 727 out of LA for your nearest airport sort, it's on that plane. There almost always is.
