So I ordered over 100 bucks worth of stuff (an xD card and a new mouse), and it appears that at 1:50CST, the package was delivered with the following comment:
"No signature required - release waiver on file".

I've never had a package where NewEgg has allowed FedEx to drop the package, and I know I didn't specify that it could be left. Is it only on hardware purchases or large items where FedEx brings it back to the warehouse after a delivery attempt??

If Fedex has your signature on file saying that its ok to leave it there, they will.

Usually, on their first missed attempt, they'll leave a driver release form on your window. If you fill it out and specify where the package should be left, and sign it and stick it back where it was, it's an official release waiver and it's permanent until you request that it be revoked. I personally love this option because many times I'm not home during delivery hours, and our FedEx driver knows exactly where to stick the package (just inside the garage, behind the trash bin).

where would I have signed that?? I've ordered from newegg a bunch of times and i've never even seen an option to do that on the order form!

EDIT: and this was the first attempt.

It's not on the order form, it's a waiver that goes on file in FedEx's records, it applies to ALL of your packages delivered to that address. Someone else in your residence may have signed a driver release waiver a while ago and you didn't know it.

Hmm.. And how would I rectify that situation? Can the local FedEx stop here take care of something like that, or do I have to call customer support?
