newegg - shipping costs

At newegg.com, a motherboard has $7 shipping. If i order 2, shipping goes up to $14. We all know real shipping costs don't double with an additional same item. I remember someone saying they called them and they lowered the shipping price for them. I tried this but the (unfriendly) lady said they can't modify the price.
Anyone else been able to do this?

Note that I haven't placed the order yet.

Thanks

Their prices are so low they need to make a little cash somewhere right?

the shipping cost for some hot items won't be reduced if you buy more than 1 together, especially cpu, mb, vga card, etc.

however, if you try to buy all the components to build a complete system, the total shipping will be just a little bit more than the shipping for the case alone.

I believe their shipping does not stack up after the third item is added. Try that - it goes like $4, $8, $9.43 or some funny amount like that...

Their shipping is very reasonable when you buy a few items.

Be happy, some retailers will charge you 15 for each item, not 7 :)

I'd try calling back and seeing if you get someone else, if they do in fact have more than one person working the phones.

When I put a sound card ($7 shipping) and then added a CDRW ($11 shipping) it was only charging me $13 or so. It definitely depends upon the items.

In my experience ordering $1000's worth of items from newegg, shipping costs listed on the site appear to be completely erroneous when ordering multiple items. I've never been charged more than like $40 for shipping for a complete system.

Then again I don't usually order single items...

I'm only guessing, but it may have to do with what warehouse it comes from. I ordered a processor, heatsink and a dvd-rom from them and they came in 2 boxes from different places.

Of course if you're buying 2 of the same motherboard, that theory doesn't sound so good.
