For those of you with a soft spot for DVD blanks, Newegg is having a shell shocker today for 2 times 100 spindles of Sony DVD-R blanks for $27.99. Runs from 3:00 to 5:59PM Pacific Time.

Seems like years since I've seen a hot deal on DVD blanks and I've almost burnt through the stacks I got from Staples in the bygone days. I like to use them for permanent backups of critical data. I've used Sony in the past and they work fine.

Man, haven't bought those in ages... Probably have some paying around somewhere. Last time used was to burn OS installers. But if you need one its a pretty sweet deal. I wont be surprised if they sell 200 for $25. But iirc, isn't DVD+R better than DVD-R? Also, OP, deal starts at 3:00 PM PDT and end at 12:00 midnight PDT, it does not end at 6.

btw, I am drooling on the 6:00 PM mobo . It might sell for $30 shipped AR

Of course I ended up working until 9pm and completely forgot to jump on my own hot deal.

Thanks. I don't think I need any more, though.

Bought some TDK and Ritek -R and +R and some TDK CD-R. Now I've got discs cluttering my apt.

Ooo, a buck more for +R. I'll bite if I don't forget as well. Happens to me all the time so I've come to the conclusion that my wallet and/or wife have a spell over me.

How do those stack up against Verbatim AZO DVD-Rs? I use DVDs so rarely (and have most of a spindle of 100 lying around as it is) that I had no reason to jump on this deal anyway, but I did wonder about their quality in general.

Deal is now live-and the price is $25.99 for 200 blanks versus the $28.99 advertised price.

Most likely, they are not as good as Verbatim AZO. Then again, Verbatim AZO DVD+R are now produced in outsourced factories anyways.

Odds are pretty good that you'll receive "Made in India" media, whether you choose Verbatim, or Sony. Slightly more with Sony.
