NewEGG sells Mobile Pentium 4/Athlon XP ????

I bet not.... Looks like just the CPU. I wonder what the overclock would be like on this? Is the P4M socket 478? Hmmm...

Is the P4M socket 478?
No Micro-FCPGA, which is actually the same socket type that upper end mobile P3s use heh (but I wouldn't suggest trying to do that sort of upgrade).

so anyone know the scoop on these things? wuts the purpose? less heat cpus for desktops?
There really isn't anything much you can do with them except for replace or upgrade your laptop (but I wouldn't suggest it). The Mobile AMD chips are exactly the same as Socket A, and I've heard of people running mobile chips on desktop boards? I dunno how they do it the mobile chips are only supposed to run on like 1.25v or something.

nope, those ECS desktops-in-disguise use regular socket-478 chips.

Woops, didn't read carefully enough. Wouldn't using a normal socket-478 chip in a laptop drain the battery quickly?

Ask Alienware... they do this on a regular basis.
