Watching netflix on mine right now. Not a bad device. Slow wonky menus though.

I wish it would add networked drives the way XBMC can, integrating them into the movies section etc.

I can't compare it to the Patriot, but compared to the WDTV Live I have, I prefer the Seagate. I had crazy wired network issues with the WDTV and none with the Seagate.

Don't forget if the firmware is not the newest one when you get this box that there is a modded firwmare to play with as well:
http://forums.seagate.com/t5/FreeAg...eeAgent-Theater-Plus-Testers-Needed/m-p/40993

Adds SSH, Telnet, FTP, Optware and a Bittorent client. I have not played with it as I got the goflex with the new firmware which people are still working on playing with.

Hardware hacking info:

Don't forget this box also is a DLNA reciever so it can stream stuff from MythTV if you setup Myth to stream.

Can this play a DVD from a shared DVD drive on a PC? i.e. without ripping the disc.

edit: Now listed as $49.99

Does the drive slot accommodate the thicker FreeAgent GO drives?
(750GB, 880GB, 1TB)?

These drives will fit the USB dock and the Dockstar, but will not fit the original FreeAgent Theater (the original - not this PLUS version)
