Newegg RMA...

Recently my graphics card (7800 GTX, couple months old) randomly died while my computer was turned off. I went to turn on my computer the next day and the voice message from the Asus mobo screamed something about no boot due to VGA test failed. Tried reseating the card, etc, same error. I had a friend try out the card, same problem.

So, I filled out an RMA with Newegg.com, since I bought it from them and it was still within the 1 year replacement policy. I packed up the box with the graphics card, the manual, the 2 DVI-VGA adapters, the internal power cable, and the multi-purpose output cable (whatever you call it). I sent it off to Newegg last Thursday, and got a package back from Newegg today. I got the same graphics card back (I knew it was the same one from the slightly bent metal bracket) in an anti-static bag, wrapped in bubble wrap. They had repaired it instead of replacing it (no idea what the problem was). Only problem is, they didn't send anything but the graphics card. They kept the cables, adapters, and the manual that I sent them, for no apparent reason.

I originally put the items in the box because of this note on the RMA from Newegg: "Please note that you will incur a deduction for any missing parts or accessories, (i.e., cables, manuals, driver disc, etc.). You must return the item in its entirety. Whatever you originally received in your order is what must be returned to Newegg.com." I know it doesn't make a lot of sense to send those in for a repair, but at the time I thought it was going to be a replacement, since all the Newegg RMA things called it "Replacement". I'm going to email Newegg about it tomorrow. I can run the card without the power cable, but its de-clocks due to the lower power level.

This is my first bad experience with Newegg. Anyone else have something similar happen? What are the chances that I can get them to send me some new cables to replace the ones they stole?

Cliffs:
1. Graphics card died, filled out RMA with Newegg.com
2. Send in card, with manual and cords as requested.
3. Get back card, minus the cords.
4. Have to run card without the power cord, running at lower clock.
5. Annoyed that my cables are gone, not even sure if I'll be able to get new ones without much hassle.

Call them on monday. I'd be angry too though, but give em a chance to make it right (a gift or something)

I have only heard good things from Newegg's customer service. Give them a chance to fix their mistake. Seems like a big mistake too.

Me neither. I mean their only option is to call them and find out what's up....so I wonder why they don't do those things first before making a thread.

I got screwed over similarly a year ago when my A7N8X-E decided to go poof. Sent it with all its stuff in the ASUS box, all the cables, everything, got just the motherboard back. Was alot of fun having to buy $20 worth of cables from Staples that I should've kept. And in an almost ironic event, when a Foxconn board of mine bit the dust, I sent *just* the board in, and got back a NIB of the same model. :D Newegg FTW.
