Hey guys, I decided to upgrade the rig which is already on its way to add a second vid card so i fear my corsair 620hx will not be enough power. Do you guys know how the return policy works for unopened merchandise? Do I still have to pay the 15% fee? Do I have to pay for shipping to send it out on my own?

Thanks

According to their written policy, 15% restocking plus you pay for shipping. Some people have gotten Newegg to waive their restocking fee, but I hear that is dependent on your purchasing history. For instance if you have a five year history with spending $10k/year with them, then you are more likely to get it waived than if this is only your second small order from them.

Well, I've only RMA'd three times, got my shipping waived for one of them and the restocking waived for another.

Just talk to the CS to start a RMA, both times I didn't have to ask, they just did it anyway. Then again I've been using them for over 5 years and spending a good $1k/year.

Open or not I don't believe it is ethical for a retailer to directly reshelf an unopened item. Especially with Newegg items, where the box is not sealed, one could just repackage the item well. So I think that once it is sold, it cannot be resold as new, which is why they have the restocking fee there.

Of course, since Newegg is such a big company they don't mind waiving these fees every once in a while.

i dunno, i've worked retail and while opened electronics carry a restocking fee, sealed items were always full returns. if an item isn't wrapped or blister-packed, that's what they make sticker tape for.

i guess it's just different for online retailers these days.

If you have not received the item yet and have contacted Newegg, they will generally waive the restocking fee and they will tell you to do a REFUSE SHIPMENT. That's what happenned to me when I order a motherboard/CPU/RAM that I changed my mind on getting an LGA775 setup to an I7 system build. I love their online chat and fast support. Makes it real easy for cubicle worker that don't want to be caught yapping on the phone for non-work related stuff
