Heres what went down

-friend asks me to build ihm a PC
-he buys all the parts, i put it together [emril]BAM![/emril
-Works fine for a day till it reboots randomly
-I check it out....very unstable PSU...when you touch or move it it restarts
-I tell him to return the case with the PSU and get a new one
-He needed it in a week and the egg wouldnt send a new one till they got the old one
-He just bought a new case (blue instead of original silver) and planned on returning the one with the busted PSU
-He gets the blue case and I rebuild...works for litterly 2 seconds then psu just dies...flat out ( i tested it and everything...it wont turn on)
-Now hes stuck with a twitchy PSU and a broken one...hes leaving tomorrow
- I be the good guy I am and give him the one from my case (we have the same one)
- Im just using a normal psu on the putside on my comp for the time being.
-I have the twitchy PSU at my house....

Now first of all to those who say 'buy a REAL psu'....you Cant....this is a small case and requires this specific PSU.... its a smaller one

Will newegg take my case back with the dead PSU from his case in it? and just give ME the new one? Then he can return his original one for a refund....hes going to be gone for 4 weeks at training so I dont know what we can do. If I called newegg and explained all this do you think theyd help me/him out?

its the aspire X-QPACK case btw

Basically heres how it stands.

He has his original case with the 100% PSU wrapped up ready to be shipped
He also has a 100% working PC that he is taking (blue case...my old PSU)
I have my PC runing off an external PSU basically...no PSU that fits in the case
I also have his 50% working PSU...the twitchy one....

You buy a cheap case with cheap power supply this is what happens. If you exhange the case, your only going to get another cheap power supply. Return one of the cases, try to get a full refund, if you can't, eat the 15% restock fee, return it and buy a decent preowned Power Supply on NewEgg or on the forums.

Please expand on what exact case it is that needs this certain type power supply.

as said in the OP...its an Aspire X-QPACK case...it takes a micro-atx mobo and the PSU hsa to be certain dimmensions (or else it wont fit)

www.sudhian.com forums, ask about PSUs to fit (list case model and PSU dimensions).

Depending on watts you need, you might be able to get a tiny internal PSU from someone like PC Power & Cooling, or maybe even one of the fanless external PSUs that use a laptop style power brick.

Otherwise, keep playing case roulette I guess, until you get a working PSU or fry all your components with the next bad one.

Remember that a case/PSU warranty does not cover any parts fried by the lousy PSU.
