I ordered an antec tru380 powersupply yesterday for $39 refurbed, which I am not too worried about. I am more worried about ordering a refurbed processor. How likely am I to get one that doesnt work, or fails or something? Are the refurbed processors in good shape?

personally i would never get a refurbed cpu. what would newegg do to recondition the cpu?
a cpu isnt something u can "fix" with touch-up paint.

on the other hand, someone may have returned the cpu because it did not meet their
overclocking goal, but still stable at default speeds.

Can't say how the cpu's are, but remember that refurbs are not necessarily refurbished or repaired items (near absolutely impossible with a processor) but that they are open boxes or returned because they didn't fit, didn't work as expected. For refurb cpu's I would think it probably didn't OC well enough to satisfy the buyer or it wouldn't work with his board. Just my thoughts. I bought a refurb ASUS board several months ago and it was clean, no marks, bent pins or scratches. It's been perfect so far.

Not like they refurb anything. Really should be called returns, but then people would click the link thinking that's where they go to return something, so they call it refurbs instead to prevent confusing people. See, simple.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, because if something was actually wrong with the cpu, chances are it wouldnt boot, and they wouldnt be selling it.

Somewhere I thought I saw Newegg mentiond but I looked again and didn't see it.

When buying a refurb I would make sure it could be returned if it didn't work. Newegg and several others will offer a very limited warranty but I wouldn't say the same for many others. I would suggest you check resellerratings.com and get some kind of feel for the company if you are unsure of their track record. Good luck with whatever you get.

Does anyone know when (during the day) NewEgg posts their refurbs? I usually check in the morning (EST) and they're normally sold out by then.
