I see deals regarding Newegg refurbs posted on here often, but their site says that refurb motherboards do not come with any "accessories". What does that mean? Does it not come with any of the cables, brackets, etc? I don't care about the standard cables, but I wouldn't want to buy a MB without the proprietary brackets....

A lot of the time they are only the board, nothing else. No manual, no bracket, no cd, nothing.......

its just the luck of the draw with that suff, i've had the full retail packaging before and i've only had a bare motherboard. it is just luck whether or not you get anything with it. i just bought the leadtek nforce2 board on newegg's refurb, hope i get the goods with it.

I've ordered 4 refurbed motherboards so far, and on each I received almost all of the included accessories. So your chances are good that you will receive all of the items, but they are just covering their bases. One thing I noticed is that they seem to ship out more complete items earlier, so the more pieces they have for an item, the more accessories you'll receive.

One thing I will say is that they have very good customer service and the items are generally in good condition. Only one motherboard was DOA, and they refunded the purchase in full and the shipping cost back. I was very pleased.

Well, I have ordered more than 100 refurb items at Newegg, and from my experience you should not count on the item working or having all the accessories. I would say less than 50% of the mobos I have ordered have all the accessories. Furthermore, I have about a 40% failure rate. I have received at least 7 mobos that had the tabs for mounting the heatsink broken off (all of them... :) ), and 2 processors that had clearly cracked cores. To say that these items are refurb is not really accurate. Some stuff is clearly refurb, but other stuff is just abused junk. Don't let me discourage you though, because you can score some awesome deals. I am running a $35 "refurb" 1700+ B that is overclocked to 2600+ at default voltage, so you can hit the jackpot on occasion.......

Jmman is right on. I've had 3/5 Newegg refurb MoBo's be DOA or unstable right out ot the box. But the great thing is Newegg has always been excellent at taking the non-functioning refurbs back.

I think they are more than happy to use us as their unofficial off-site troubleshooting crew.

We get good deals....they are able to cull out the items that are actually defective with little cost to them.
