Newegg redid their website

Hmm......nope, they're still using use the same image viewer: Rather than let me use my large monitor to look at a single large image, they still force the use of a tiny box with zoom controls on it.

You walk into a retail store, and a greeter puts a box over your head with a 3x3in square cut in the front of it, and that's the only way you can look at products.
And this makes sense because......?

I am not into web design, so if it has a legit reason I do not know it. But as a customer, I hate that. Worse yet, when the only pics leave you with the ya'll got any more them pixels feeling.

And I have went back to doing quite a bit of biz with the egg. Amazon is sucking on PC part prices more oft than not when I need something. The egg has been stepping up their game, and shipping is always faster then advertised.

Newegg = Fail. Their customer service down right SUCKS. UPS lost my package and they want me to wait something like 2 weeks for UPS to finish their investigation. It's not like I could be lying or something, the tracking # has a exception saying they can't find the package.

So instead of just sending me a replacement right away, they wanted me to wait for the claims process to finish. Ummm no, how about you send a replacement and have UPS send the original back if you find it? Oh you can't do that? OK, thanks I'll go to Amazon.

Oh and on topic, the new page layout sucks. Giant white bars on the side? WTF?

Heck if I was them I would have a box at checkout:

Amazon CS really is spectacular. Even if it means escalating beyond the first tier. That said, it sounds like UPS goofed not the egg, so even though Amazon may have spoiled you, perhaps your anger is misplaced? UPS is the party at fault, and not exactly expediting things. That company policy does not allow them to bend over backwards when the shipping company fails, is not something I would mark them down for. I will take up your slack on the purchasing. :D

That's because Newegg will ship the item the same day regardless of the shipping method as long as it's before a certain time. I've been a customer of both sites for a long time, and it's very, very rare for Amazon to do the same. Amazon does have a leg up with their Saturday and Sunday deliveries (both for free via Prime), which Newegg does not do.

It is UPS'S fault, but to say I need to wait a week for their claim process with UPS is stupid. They can easily tell UPS to return it if they find it and ship a replacement. Not say wait another week.

I appreciate the response, but it's done. I ordered my replace through Amazon so I wouldn't have to wait at least another week. My last experience with the egg was when I was charged a restocking fee on a defective product. I used to love newegg, just feels like you can't compete customer service wise. Shouldn't take a forum to get a "possible" resolution.

They're not the only ones either. Staples did/does the same thing:

Besides for everything being bigger and slower than it should be, I don't notice much different about the website. Although I have really stopped using Newegg as much as I used, because their customer service is terrible and I hate their marketplace implementation. The marketplace has filled their website with a ton of low quality product listings that you can't trust, just like Amazon.

I pretty much wrote Newegg off after they start bundling "free" crap software with hardware purchases, and then charging you for it if you returned the hardware, with no way to not accept the free software. This is a clear ploy to prevent you from returning anything. My brother also had to file a complaint with his CC company to get Newegg to honor a return.

Is it just me, or is it really annoying when companies do this? If they actually cared about customer service, they'd take care of it before you posted a complaint somewhere. I see posts like this as just an attempt at damage control and maybe an attempt to discredit the original poster.

Ironic that I bought a nice 22" monitor from newegg years ago and now thanks to mobile devices the monitor is a waste on most websites. Maybe I should turn the monitor 90 degrees :\.

Newegg used to be the most functional store I can remember but now it's "dumbed down" like everything else.
