I've had the exact opposite experience as far as the new EggSaver shipping option. It's been consistently slow for me, possibly because of the need for DHL to transfer the package to USPS for the "final mile".
Yeah. What I said didn't really apply to "EggSaver". EggSaver = "You have no idea when it'll arrive".

I suggest linking this thread in a customer service e-mail to Newegg, so they know they're getting negative publicity and threatening their loyal customer base.

Ah ok. Yeah, the "Express Saver" (or whatever they call the free UPS shipping option) is usually fine. Two to three day is the norm. Unfortunately, I'm finding that a lot of my recent orders have ended up with EggSaver as the free option instead.

I'm out on the east coast and eggsaver shipping typically takes 4-5 business days. I got a package last night that I ordered late last week, strange thing it was labeled "DHL" and "USPS" on the same package.

Ditto! (I'm in Boston.) I ordered a new DVD burner in the afternoon of Veteran's Day (Nov 11) with Newegg's "standard" 3-day UPS shipping. Online order stated an estimated delivery time of 1 day, which I didn't believe. Sure enough, UPS tried to deliver it on Nov 12.

I have been sticking strictly to free shipping items lately, as they are the only ones that display what the shipping situation is without having to add them to a cart first.

mWave $78.50 + $12.98 3 days = $92.41

Frys $94 + $6 Ground shipping or $ 9.60 2 days $100, or $104 if I do not want to wait a week.

So according to the wisdom of this thread I have to shoot my self in the foot and buy more expensive items because I am upset with NewEgg due to the unpleasant change that they made to their Shopping interface.

P.S. None of the vendors mentioned above quote the shipping price before you go into the Shopping cart.

Disclaimer, I have nothing to do with NewEgg. I buy from them and the others according to price + shipping that reflect the timing that I need the computer part being at my door.
Ha!

Well, I still have faith in the Egg. :p

More Madness. I wanted to purchase some RAM, in qty.

$3.99 "egg saver" shipping for one.
$30.77 UPS 3-day shipping for ten.

Let's compare shipping with something that is heavy, and huge.
ThermalTake Armor case

Guess what? For that monster, shipping is only $29.99!

So it costs more to ship ten blister-packs of single sticks of RAM, than it does to ship a (damn heavy, I own one) case, that is some multiple of size of those ram sticks.

Doesn't make sense, does it?

Well, NewEgg, you just shipping gouged yourself out of a $309 sale.

i bought 3 case fans at $5 each... shipping ended up being $20 or so. the shipping cost more than the parts.

either way, now when i buy things off ebay, i select the search option for only free shipping items and compare them with item that have a shipping charge to see which is a better deal.

something else that keeps me a newegg customer is their customer service. yeah, i mean, it takes an hour to get in touch with someone because they're understaffed, but whenever my motherboard was doa, they emailed me a packaging label and overnighted me a new motherboard for free.

When I buy some thing the price of the items is the amount of money that is charged to to my credit card.

I buy from who ever charge the card with the least amount for the same Items, I do not care how they construct their invoice.

Umm...did you happen to notice the shipping service changed from "Egg Saver" to "UPS Guaranteed 3-Day"? If you select UPS Guaranteed 3-Day for one item, it is $6.99. So the appropriate comparison would be:

$6.99 shipping for one by UPS Guaranteed 3-day
$30.77 shipping for ten by UPS Guaranteed 3-day

Or, a savings of $39.00!!

I presume that whatever Newegg calls "Egg Saver" is some flat-rate economy shipping tier with a weight and/or size limit. 10 units may exceed this weight and/or size limit and therefore gets bumped to a different service. Did you not learn the Sesame Street Same Songs that teach same vs. different? Here, I'll refresh your memory. Feel free to jump-in any time:

Da-da da da... (musical lead-in)

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed [UPS Guaranteed 3-Day] is not like [Egg Saver],
Then you're absolutely...right!

So, waiting an hour on hold is good customer service?

Don't expect that to get any better real soon.

It is either UPS Mail Innovations, DHL Home service or FedEx SmartPost. Basically the shipping company picks up the container of packages from Newegg and routes it to your local post office. This way they have just one place to deliver to per area, and the post office already delivers to all addresses just about every day.

Benefits:
* Cheap

Drawbacks:
* Takes a long time. There is ZERO guarantee of delivery date, as the post office treats it similar to Parcel Post. I have had items show up about a week after ordering, and have had items show up a MONTH after ordering.
* No "real" tracking. Sure, the shipper will have "tracking" and it will say "delivered" pretty quickly, but that delivery is to the local post office. Once in the hands of the post office, good luck. From that point on there is no tracking.

isnt all this UPS's fault and not Newegg's?

No. Pretty much 100% of online retailers (besides "free shipping" offers or companies with really low sales volume) make money on shipping charges.

i've always compared prices with other vendors like zzf, frys, clubit, before purchasing. although, if its only a couple of dollars more sometimes i still buy at newegg because I live one state away, and often get it the next day.

A lot of companies overcharge on postage. I just bought a plier from Techni-Tool thru Amazon and while the item was reasonable at $30 they added TAX (must have a warehouse in my state) and then about $8 in postage. Of course, the box had a catalog in it also, but the tool itself
was not very heavy. I would rather wait an extra day or two if I can save signifigantly on the shipping. Newegg, while good, also has warehouse in my state, so that means I pay sales tax on my purchases.
