NewEgg RAPES YOU on shipping.

Add that to your cart. Watch the shipping charges mount up and up and up!

Add 10, and shipping goes to over $24!

These things are small and lightweight. I could ship ten of them in a small box for likely under $10 if I went to a UPS store. And NewEgg gets bulk shipping discounts!

There is NO EXCUSE for this crap, especially after the LIES from NewEgg, about them removing the display of the shipping price from items, claiming that it is due to their "new" stacked shipping calculations.

Well, they're still scamming on shipping charges. Nothing new there.

Personally, I generally only order items from NewEgg if they offer free shipping. Because their regular shipping prices are crap!

I just bought a mouse today (what are they, 1 lb tops?) and a 1GB stick of DDR SO-DIMM memory. I think the shipping came to $11.60.

It seems like only a few months ago shipping would have been less than $5, AND they displayed it on the page BEFORE I added the item to my cart.

My case isn't the best example, but little things like that are disheartening.

I'm done with newegg. My last order (1 small box) that I just got today took 8 days from when I ordered it. I'm 1 state away in Oregon.... They're slow as shit, their shipping rapes you, and they really don't have the best prices anymore. Fuck Newegg. If they'd add USPS as a shipping option that would solve a lot of the problems but they don't. You get expensive and slow UPS or even more expensive and just as slow Fedex. Meh.

I agree that newegg's new shipping sucks, but it only hurts you if you let them. I've long since become WAY more selective about what I buy from newegg. I shop a lot on their site, but frequently buy somewhere else. Heck, the last ram I bought I got from amazon!

Part of the reason I stopped using NewEgg, they still have some good deals, but a lot of the times their prices are nothing special.

Anybody remember when NewEgg was still awesome? :p

Seems like over the last 2-3 years they've become very mediocre. I mean they're definitely not a bad store, but they just don't really stand out like they used to.

I still love to buy from Newegg, if they display their prices or not.
Actually, I don't complete the order until I see what the total ends up being.
If it's much higher than other vendors... I clear out my shopping cart and go elsewhere for my purchase.

It's their business and I let them run it any way they see fit. If it gets to the point that Newegg is less desirable to me, I will find a new favorite vendor. There are plenty of them out there.
Until then... Shop On! :thumbsup::laugh:

I ordered some memory from Newegg and it took UPS five days to get it to me using 3-day shipping. What's worse is the scan originated from Baldwin Park, CA., which is about 6 hours away.

There's a simple solution to this. Move out of Canadia ;) Are you guys really that hard up there? From the little I've noticed it sounds like it's Newegg.ca or NCIX and that's it.

It time to get disconnected from the perception of Price and ship are two different entities.

Buying means how much money I spend.

If the money spend is lower elsewhere buy elsewhere.

What actually every one is mad about is that they have to shop rather than always to buy automatically from the same vendor and assume that it is always the lowest price.

I agree they should put their total cost including shipping on their advertisement rather than the shopping cart. Whats even worse is that in California they charge an extra Tax. The tax is always different for an item depending on the day, which gives them another opportunity to skim off the top. I think newegg better address these problems or people will start looking for better deals elsewhere, especially in california, since we are a major customer and we cant even get a clear price on the advertisement page.

I probably spend $100K a year on computer parts. Ewiz is now getting the bulk of that. ZZF, Fry's, and a few others get the rest. I very rarely shop at the Egg.

I finally gave Newegg the heave-ho a month ago. I'm done with them; and I've been with them since they began. I gladly pay a few dollars more for superior service, but I'm not paying more for WORSE service than I get at other etailers. For starters:

- Shipping has become dog-slow
- Email says package shipped on Mon but shipping label says Wed or Thurs
- Shipping cost is total BS...way more expensive than it really costs
- Their packing has gone into the toilet...items just thrown in with a few peanuts
-- Box with 15 pounds of product held together with one strip of weak tape
- Customer service replies to my inquires about problems w/the website get generic answers from people that obviously don't know what they are talking about

I could go on but I won't. The strongest comment you can make is to speak with your wallet.

* They charge "an extra tax"... besides state sales tax?
* "tax is always different... depending on the day"... The sales tax percentage changes from one day to the next?

California customers, please clear this up.

No the California sales tax is what Im talking about. We have to pay a tax in California, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee that others dont. Also in California, we are charged an Electronic Recycling Waste Fee on all Televisions and LCD monitors and I imagine anything else with a big enough screen . So add the shipping, plus the California Tax, plus the Electronic Recycling Waste Fee, and you end up getting a really bad deal.

From NewEgg themselves.

Why am I being assessed an additional fee by the state of California?

The Electronic Waste Recycling Act ("Act") became law in California on January 1, 2005. The primary objective of this law is to initiate a recycling program for computer products containing chemicals deemed hazardous to the environment. To fund this program, California requires retailers and e-tailers to collect, on the state's behalf, a fee for each product covered by this law. The fee is paid by the consumer at the time of purchase of the covered product. This fee will be remitted directly to the state by us and only applies to orders shipped within California.

The types of products that we are required to collect this recycling fee include cathode ray tubes, cathode ray tube devices, flat panel screens, and other similar video display devices. The actual amount of the recycling fee will vary, based on the screen size of the product when measured diagonally, as follows:

? Greater than 4" and less than 15" -- $6.00
? Greater than or equal to 15" and less than 35" -- $8.00
? Greater than or equal to 35" -- $10.00

Lastly there is a NO money back return policy on all LCD monitors and you have to have a minimum of 8 pixels dead for a replacement. WTF????

I need today to buy an Intel E5200 Retail.

NewEgg $82.99 Free ship UPS 3days = $82.99

Ewiz $75.75 + $16.66 UPS 3days = $92.41

mWave $78.50 + $12.98 3 days = $92.41

Frys $94 + $6 Ground shipping or $ 9.60 2 days $100, or $104 if I do not want to wait a week.

So according to the wisdom of this thread I have to shoot my self in the foot and buy more expensive items because I am upset with NewEgg due to the unpleasant change that they made to their Shopping interface.

P.S. None of the vendors mentioned above quote the shipping price before you go into the Shopping cart.

Disclaimer, I have nothing to do with NewEgg. I buy from them and the others according to price + shipping that reflect the timing that I need the computer part being at my door.

No, you should shoot yourself in the foot and spend more because other membes here are upset with Newegg.

I haven't really felt 'raped' shopping at newegg recently. I compare shipping costs and total price from all the major sites (I don't care if I have to play around with the cart to make the full comparison) and Newegg seems to win the price game the vast majority of times. I often just choose the "free shipping" modifier on Newegg from the start so I'm ONLY looking at products that have shipping factored into the price already. For a lot of stuff, this is a good way to go. If ZZF of Frys or Tigerdirect have a better deal after shipping then I buy from them. I'd buy from them more if Newegg wasn't the de-facto cheapest place for me, at least.

Newegg shipping is always lightning quick for me. As to the price, and shipping charges... I generally get stuff when it has free shipping , and if I need something specific, I shop around. I'd guess that Newegg gets 70% of my business, the rest is spread over a few different shops.

ZZF $76 shipped...

;)

And really, that's my beef with newegg. They are almost never the best price on hardware.

Well you are right, and I am right too.

When I did the comparison I tried to be functional (I really need E5200).

ZZF is actually,

FedEx 5-7 Day Delivery $0.00
FedEx 2 Day Delivery $9.98
FedEx Overnight Delivery $22.22

My experience with ZZF shows me that at my location (NYC) it takes more than one calender week to get the free ship from ZZF.

So if we take a choice that is comparable with the others that I mentioned.

ZZF would be $76 + $9.98 = $85.98
