I'm pretty sure they were $212/OEM $224/retail last week.

Maybe last *month* ;)

Still a great price!

I went ahead and picked this up today. $208 shipped for what is pretty much the 2nd most powerful card in the market is a good deal for sure. Replacing my old 8500 with this card will compliment my XP 1800 to XP 2600 upgrade nicely! This card should even still be good when I build a new Athlon FX system in 12-18 months :D

Building an entire new system this weekend, I decided to go with the 9600XT ($181 retail with HL2 so about $130 functionally) just made so much more sense because both will stop being acceptable gaming cards almost at the same time. Just my $0.02 and I'm sure not saying that 9800pro wouldn't make one sexy gaming rig... :)

I think you made a bad decision Auggie, but, the choice is certainly yours. Just giving my opinion.
Anyway, back to the thread. My wife bought it for my bday for $212 last week. Last night got 6030 on 3dmk2003. Out of the box, the card is now @ 400 x 738 with stock cooling on it now. Gonna get her to 415/750 and keep her there when my Arctic Cooler and ramsinks get here.

$208 for this card is nice. Will it go down, most likely, but it can't go down all that much. Now certainly seemed the time for me.
Oh, not only is it a lot faster then my T14200 was, without a doubt the IQ even just browsing web is much better.

Yup, now's a pretty good time. Just look at the 9700Pro for an example. Lowest you can find it new on an online store is newegg and its at $189.

the 9800 pro should be a viable gaming card for a fair deal longer than the 9600xt because of 4 pipes vs 8 pipes.

Half Life 2 was not a big deal for me, I'm more interested in getting a card that is powerful enough to drive my 24" Samsung LCD in DVI mode so that I can play Unreal Tourney 2004 in a few weeks (and Doom3 after that!) :)

OEM cards sometimes just come only with the cards. Highly unlikely to get HL2. You might be able to get some of the software, but it depends on your luck.

Hmmm newegg does put this on the same page though so i guess you do get cable/software/accessories.
Cable/Accessories: 4 Cables, VGA via DVI Adapter, PowerDVD, Driver CD

I bought the retail box week before last to get Tomb Raider for the girfriend's son (it was only $15 more than OEM), and replaced my ti4200. (As a bonus, they actually sent me two TRs) I can now go to max setting on BF1942 where I was only at medium setting with the 4200. The UT2004 demo is awesome. I have it dual monitored to a Trintron 21" and an NEC 17" using the included DVI -> analog convertor. Still playing with settings, and haven't found a need to use the included OC software even though I have it loaded.

*WARNING*, if you're replacing a video card, prior to taking the old card out make sure you remove the old card's drivers using Add/Remove Programs. This is especially true if your replacing an Nvidia card. I learned the hard way. It completely freaked out my system , including a rastered screen and chkntfs on every bootup.

Enjoy it - I am! :D

With the OEM Sapphire from Newegg, you get the cables, driver cd, power dvd cd, and adapters. Das it.

nice price!! it may go down again, but think of it this way: all the time you spend gaming from now until the price drop..... is the extra $50 u save to play on a sub-par gaming machine really worth it ? I paid 299$ for mine a few months ago, and I'd say I got my extra $100 worth of playing time out of those 3-4 months by far!
