NewEgg Pricing Is Fishy?

I like NewEgg, but have noticed a couple of oddities:

1. Is NewEgg manipulating Pricewatch? I've noticed many times that their Athlon XP CPU prices have a green arrow signifying a price decrease, but this occurs AFTER a price increase! This happened today. In the early afternoon, the price of the XP1800+ was about $93 shipped. Now it's $97 shipped, but with a green arrow! What gives?

2. Anyone noticed the refurbished Athlon XPs at NewEgg? The refurbed XP1500 and XP1600 are priced at $89 and $94 shipped. I called NewEgg and the CSR said he'll look into it. The refurbed XP1800 was available at $71,

yeah i have been laughing about those refurb xp prices for a couple days... they are actually more expensive than the new ones and have been that way for a couple days.... 😉

dew.

What I did notice sometimes is that newegg may increase the price but then offer free shipping. But its still cheaper by a buck or two then when the price is lower and with 6-8 bucks shipping.

Anyway, do take note that this oddities that you observed is not really a hot deal, only a awareness post.

And refurb stuff from Newegg go fast, really really fast.
Ok I reread your concern about the refurb 1500 and 1600, they do seem too high. But the XP1800 seems like a steal, you should have ordered when you called the CSR.

This is not a hot deal, thus it should not be posted as its own thread in this forum.

In the future please post this in the ~~~~ Brag & Moan ~~~~ thread that is locked to the top of the first page of the hot deals section.
