NewEgg Prices high?

I?m certainly willing to pay a little more for great service.....but it seems that NewEgg?s prices have gotten out-of-hand. Things I?ve been shopping for are >10% higher then there competition in some cases.

I suggest that everyone remains a smart shopper and shop around for your components. Don?t forget about using PriceWatch (along with Reseller ratings) to make sure you are getting the best deal.
(Don?t forget to factor in S&H, it can really change a deal!)

Not only does it benefit you, but it also keeps the stores competitive.

Ummm... wrong forum but although i think they're a bit higher than before... i do get hit by CA tax since i'm in the same state as they are... but i think their quick shipping and great reliability is worth it though.

EDIT... NM... moved already. 🙂

Yes, sometimes prices are a bit higher at Newegg, but I do save on taxes and often get free shipping. The items are ALWAYS packaged properly and shipped ontime. Just this Sunday I rodered couple of items from them, had it shipped Fedex ground and already received my package today! Three days from California to Kentucky, not bad!

I'm willing to pay about a 5% premium for service, but that is about my limit. NewEgg has some good deals at times, but while putting a whole new system together, I've found there prices on some of the items to be greater then 10%. Way too high, since some of there competition has service that is rated almost as high!!!!

( Sorry about putting it the wrong thread😱 )

Yeah, the price is getting less competitive now. They seem to rely on their reputation to do business now. I will try to avoid buying from them since the tax together with their price make it at lest 20 bucks on some motherboard or big ticket item.

What is this "cheaper/better competition" you speak of?

yes, newegg rapes you on things like rounded cables and heatsinks...thats why there's svc.com

When I shop at Newegg, I don't have to worry about going through all the troubles when i need to return something. And I think it's worth that 10% difference.
Sometimes Newegg has some pretty good deals, too.

This is the right forum. Where else would he post this topic? And besides, it's hard to be off topic in off topic. 😉

I like Newegg, and I still buy most major purchases from them. But I've started buying locally as well, since I found a store that offers comparable (slightly higher) prices but I can get it immediately.

Newegg is still a great place to buy, but I agree that it's worth looking around sometimes.

i agree, they have average to good prices on certain items, but they a big ripoff for small accessories. I brought 2 vantec HDD cooler awhile back which costs $9 each but the shipping is $6 for each, I paid $18 for 2 plus $12 for shipping for 2 HDD cooler sleeve fans that can't more than 3 pounds. They may have started off with good prices but things change, and over time another store will replace newegg just like mwave was replaced. Thank god for good old pricewatch like sites.

Never really noticed their prices were any higher than other companies....

Even so, their reliability, ease of RMA, and refund policy are top notch... worth a few extra bucks IMO

They've just decided not to lose money on $10 sales -- when you figure it takes a certain minimum labor cost to fill even a $1 order they should be charging $6 shipping and handling.

SVC probably either eats the loss on small orders (subsidizing them from the larger orders) or has some very underpaid people working there like family members.
