Newegg packing quetion.

Has anyone else received a package they ordered from Newegg with very little packing material inside? I recently purchased an XBOX 360 Halo 3 special edition and when I opened it up there was nothing but a bit of brown paper on the top. The XBOX's box had dented corners and looked terrible. I have purchased many a item from Newegg and this is the first time I can say I am disappointed in their service.

I have only seen inadequate packaging from newegg a handful of times. Mostly on single item purchases of motherboards when they were using FedEx as the default shipper (which I still wish they did). They would take the motherboard box and put it in a FedEx box almost the same size as the motherboard box and put a wisp of bubble wrap at the end of the FedEx box (which didn't do a thing to keep the motherboard box from sliding around). All that being said, every motherboard arrived in perfect working order.

How badly was the box dinged up? :camera:?

+1

I received speakers from them in the OEM box, packed into a box x2 the size with a roll of packing paper to take up the space. The speakers worked but the roll of paper (size of my fist in a 18x18in box) was pathetic.

Actually, I find that newegg "overpacks" some things.

The only thing that irks me with newegg is that they sometimes ship in the manufacturers box for larger items, especially monitors.

Well for a Xbox 360 its pretty study as theres packaging materials inside.

I'm pretty sure they double boxed it because you'd don't want to get a dirty box from shipping. For example, speaker boxes you wouldn't care about.

The also do that with computer cases.

Their HDD packing is usually sub par -not even up to standard for returning broken drives to a manufacturer.
